Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ross Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kira Kato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kato has chosen MAD WORLD by Gary Jules as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Ross Stuart has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ross Stuart seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ross Stuart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kira Kato! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stuart moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Kato misses with a hook. Stuart ducked under it nicely. Ross Stuart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stuart pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kato is out of range and Stuart settles back down. Stuart throws a leg kick which misses Kato's front leg but catches the back leg as Kato tries to avoid it. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kato has eaten all the pies! Stuart scores with a jab. Stuart is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kato's half guard. Kato wants to improve his position but Stuart is controlling well.
Kato is still trying to improve position. Kato avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stuart. Kato looking for submissions off his back. Kato wants to control but Stuart is keeping busy and won't allow it. This has been an exciting period of action! Stuart throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Kato makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kato.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stuart throwing strikes from guard but Kato blocks nicely. Stuart loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kato looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kato escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stuart gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Stuart wants to control from the top but Kato keeps moving. Stuart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Stuart throws a big right hand that misses. Kato being controlled here, momentarily. Kato has his foot on Stuart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stuart works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kato manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stuart manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kato not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stuart looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kato working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Kato trying to control but Stuart is working from the bottom. Kato has gone for a leg lock! Stuart slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kato's guard. Kato keeping moving, preventing Stuart from controlling successfully. Stuart has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kato working for a triangle but Stuart defends it easily.
Kato can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stuart controls the pace. Kato working for submissions but it's allowed Stuart to get to half guard.
Kato keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kato looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Stuart is trying to control the action in half guard but Kato is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stuart content to control rather than advance. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Stuart connects with a nice short shot to Kato's temple. Kato gets full guard. Kato has his foot on Stuart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stuart works his way back into a safe position though. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Stuart working some strikes from top position. Stuart not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kato utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ross Stuart will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
A big left from Kato misses. Stuart connects with a solid leg kick. Stuart connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kato momentarily.
Kato shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stuart as he jumps to the side. Kato throws an ugly left hook that misses
letting Stuart counter with a right hand. Stuart takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Kato keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Stuart. Stuart seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Jab by Stuart. Kato uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stuart. Kato takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Kato slips a jab from Stuart. Stuart scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kato gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Stuart trying to control the position from guard on top but Kato is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kato is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kato is looking for a triangle but Stuart pushes his legs off easily.
Stuart knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kato on the ground. Kato is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kato is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stuart defends well. Stuart postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Stuart looking to pass the guard. Kato is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Stuart with a nice head shot there. Stuart is looking to stand up but Kato won't let him. Stuart tries to free his leg and advance position but Kato is retaining full guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Stuart trying to control the position from guard on top but Kato is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Stuart throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kato is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stuart defends well. Stuart postures up and lands a big shot to Kato's brow. Kato is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kato looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kato is working for a submission of some sort.
Stuart is pressing down on Kato's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Stuart looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kato is one step ahead there. Stuart looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kato is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stuart is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stuart has escaped and now he's on top! Stuart trying to control but Kato is working from the bottom. Stuart throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stuart trying to control the position from guard on top but Kato is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Stuart throwing strikes but missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ross Stuart dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Stuart steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kato. Stuart is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Nice shot by Kato. Stuart lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Stuart throws a jab when Kato was well out of range. The fight moves into the clinch position. Kato can't get the takedown.
Stuart lands with a short shot to the head. Kato swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kato throws a head punch that misses. Stuart breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Stuart slips a jab from Kato. Stuart looks to land a left hand but Kato moved out of range nicely. Stuart bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Stuart throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Stuart lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stuart scores with the left hand. Kato knows he should have avoided that one. Stuart lands with a right hand. Stuart throws a looping overhand right but Kato ducks down to avoid it. Stuart swings for the body but Kato moves out of range.
Kato will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Stuart throws a head kick but Kato moves out of range.
Stuart connects with a right hand. Kato shakes it off. Stuart is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Stuart clobbers Kato with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Stuart keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ross Stuart has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kira Kato. Kato takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kato closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Kato misses with an uppercut
and Stuart counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kato's knee momentarily. Stuart lands with a shot to the body. Stuart fakes the leg kick and cracks Kato in the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nice uppercut there from Stuart.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stuart lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Kato missing with a left hand there. Stuart was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Nice cross by Kato. Stuart has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kato finds it's way round the side to connect with Stuart's head. Kato misses with an uppercut. Stuart saw that one coming. Kato swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Stuart fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Stuart looks to land a left hand but Kato moved out of range nicely. Kato fails to land the takedown. Kato takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Stuart paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Stuart connects with a looping right hand.
Stuart feints and then cracks Kato's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kato down. A swing and a miss from Stuart. Kato swings widly with a right hand
and Stuart counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Stuart is taking a breather. Kato says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kato tries to get to full guard but Stuart has control of the leg. Kato actively working from the bottom here. Ross Stuart overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stuart lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Kato looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Ross Stuart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Stuart is figuring out what he wants to do next. Kato looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kira Kato has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stuart working over Kato with some ground and pound. Kato looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kato is looking for a sweep. Stuart is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Stuart lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Stuart trying to control from half guard but Kato is working away. Stuart content to control rather than advance. Stuart trying to control the action but Kato is working from the bottom. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Stuart not doing much here.
And that's the end of the fight! Ross Stuart showed his dominance in that final round. Well Stuart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
