Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Emile Padilla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonny Jones! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Padilla keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Padilla displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones. Padilla shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Padilla is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Padilla escapes and gets back to his feet. Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Emile Padilla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Jones. Padilla clinches with his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Padilla has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position. Padilla keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Padilla knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground. Padilla is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Padilla. Padilla has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones trying to control but Padilla is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Jonny Jones has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but Padilla sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Jones looking to stall.
Padilla's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Padilla manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Jones stops Padilla from standing up. Padilla is pulling down on Jones's head to control his posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones prevents Padilla from getting back to his feet. Jones wants to control from the top but Padilla keeps moving. Padilla wants to sweep but no luck. Padilla is breathing heavily. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Padilla working for a triangle but Jones defends it easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jonny Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Padilla just misses with a punch to the body.
Padilla throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Padilla gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Jones wants to stand but Padilla has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Padilla avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Padilla is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him. Jones looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Emile Padilla dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jones lands with a nice combination. Padilla backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Emile Padilla has been cut. Padilla drives through with a takedown into guard. Padilla slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Jones is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Padilla is controlling him. Padilla tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard. Padilla controls from within his opponent's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jones wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Emile Padilla. Jones throws a head kick that misses. Padilla feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Padilla is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jones looking to control.
Jones is breathing heavily. Padilla wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Padilla might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Padilla is one step ahead there. Padilla wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Padilla misses with a wild body shot. Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Padilla manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jones on his heels. He'll look to pass Jones's guard now, I'm sure. Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Padilla stands up and waves to Jones to follow him. Jones shoots in for a double leg but Padilla sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Padilla darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Padilla seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Padilla decides to return to a standing position. Padilla drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
Padilla is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Jones is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Padilla. Padilla is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Padilla down to the mat. Padilla avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Padilla fails with a takedown attempt. Padilla drives through with a takedown into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Padilla is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Padilla controlling from the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Padilla walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jones. Emile Padilla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Jones. Padilla misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Padilla defends it nicely. Padilla closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jones did well to prevent Padilla getting side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to roll over but Padilla keeps him under control. Padilla trying to control the pace. Padilla is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well. Padilla wants to control but Jones is keeping him busy.
And that's the end of the fight! Emile Padilla showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Padilla, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
