Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gordon Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Wensink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Wensink's choice of entrance music: Momma Said Knock You Out. John Wensink will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Wensink! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wensink scores with a jab to the jaw. Matthews ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Matthews walks into a stiff left hand from Wensink. Wensink throws a hook but Matthews blocks it. Wensink scores with a takedown into Matthews's guard. Matthews is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wensink throwing strikes from guard but Matthews blocks nicely. Matthews wants to sweep here but Wensink controlling him for the moment. Wensink decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Matthews, up you get! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Matthews throws a hook but Wensink avoids it easily. Wensink throws a lazy uppercut
and Matthews counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Wensink looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matthews prevents Wensink from improving his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matthews seems to be looking for submissions.

Wensink closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Matthews's guard. Wensink must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wensink stands and steps away. Matthews gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Wensink throws a lazy uppercut
and Matthews counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wensink won't be happy with that. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wensink tries to buck Matthews off but Matthews is having none of it. Matthews looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Matthews tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Matthews has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matthews is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wensink knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. We've been hearing good reports from Matthews's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Wensink sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Wensink is looking to escape. Matthews is looking for a kimura but Wensink is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matthews to get the leverage. Wensink keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Wensink is looking for a sweep. Matthews is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Wensink wants to control but Matthews is keeping busy and won't allow it. Matthews is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wensink is looking to control Matthews's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wensink avoid being mounted? Wensink is not content to let Matthews control the position. Wensink tries to roll over but Matthews keeps him under control. Wensink is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Matthews's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Matthews's back! Matthews rolls, trying to escape but Wensink keeps control of the position.
Wensink looking for the RNC. Matthews covers up after that shot from Wensink.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wensink connects with a big shot to the side of Matthews's head.
Matthews is rocked! Wensink is landing big shots and Matthews is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!
