Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dieter Shlchon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dieter Shlchon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dieter Shlchon!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from West misses its intended target.
West throws an overhand right that lands on Shlchon's shoulder, as Shlchon tries to avoid the shot.
West swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shlchon moves out of range of the strikes.
West misses with a looping right.
Shlchon fails with the takedown.
West misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
West fails with the takedown

and Shlchon counters with a shoot takedown. West fights it but they end up in guard.
Shlchon wants to pass the guard but West is keeping the position.
West wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Shlchon manages to pass to side control.
West is looking to control Shlchon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can West avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shlchon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed West's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shlchon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. West doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shlchon.

Shlchon is looking for a kimura here.
West is looking for a sweep. Shlchon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shlchon uses his free foot to push down on West's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for West.
Shlchon avoids the attempt from West to control.
West is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Shlchon is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, West has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Shlchon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
West is looking to get to half guard.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Shlchon cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Shlchon looks gassed!
West keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
West wants to control but Shlchon is having none of it.
West is trying desperately to improve position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Shlchon with the ground and pound from mount.

Shlchon working for a guillotine from mount but West is in no mood to give up.
West regains half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
West slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

West throws a right hand that Shlchon ducks under and follows up with a left that Shlchon also avoids with ease.
Shlchon dodges the punch combination from West.
West with a jab.
West fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shlchon shoots in but West avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Shlchon closes this distance looking for a takedown but West circles away.
Shlchon walks into a straight right hand from West.
Shlchon takes one on the chin but seems OK.

West is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Shlchon's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Shlchon stops West from getting back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shlchon seems to be looking for submissions.
West might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Shlchon prevents West from standing back up.
West blocking the ground and pound attempt from Shlchon.
West gets back to full guard.

Shlchon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! West is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! West has escaped and now he's on top!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
West trying to control but Shlchon is working from the bottom.
Shlchon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
West suckers Shlchon into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! West is now in Shlchon's guard!

West advances to half guard.
West prevents Shlchon from improving his position.
West tries to stand and escape but Shlchon is controlling the position.
Shlchon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. West is working away from the top position though.

West moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Shlchon.
Shlchon is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on West's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shlchon is pressing down on West's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Shlchon looking for a guillotine here but West defends easily.

Shlchon is looking for a triangle here but West uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that James West will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


West misses with an uppercut. Shlchon saw that one coming.

Shlchon feints and as West raises his hands in defense, Shlchon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dieter Shlchon has got the better of the ground game so far.
West trying to strike off his back.
West utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
West controls Shlchon momentarily but Shlchon frees himself.
West is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shlchon is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shlchon trying to control the position from guard on top but West is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
West trying to keep a closed guard but Shlchon is proving a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

West has his foot on Shlchon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shlchon works his way back into a safe position though.
Shlchon trying to control but West is working from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Shlchon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Shlchon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
West is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
West's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
West is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Shlchon fails to advance to West's back.
West is trying to reverse the position but instead Shlchon has taken his back - oops!
West rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Shlchon seems to be looking for submissions.
West wants to improve his position but Shlchon is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
West tries to kick Shlchon off but Shlchon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
West wants to improve his position but Shlchon is controlling well.
Shlchon works his way into full mount!
West is just holding on here. Shlchon manages to take his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Shlchon goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. West escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Shlchon is looking to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
West throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dieter Shlchon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Shlchon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
