PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sabin Figaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Also Zarathustra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Figaro comes into the arena with Prospect - Warrior blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Zarathustra's choice of entrance music: Red Birds Will Fly Out Of The East And Destroy Paris In A Night. Also Zarathustra struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 172.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 35 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sabin Figaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Also Zarathustra!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zarathustra connects with a nice looking jab.
Zarathustra scores with a shot to the body.
Figaro fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Zarathustra on the side of the head.


It looks like Also Zarathustra has been cut.
Figaro throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zarathustra throws a series of punches but Figaro moves out of range.
Figaro closes the distance and clinches up with Zarathustra, looking for a takedown. Figaro pushes Zarathustra against the cage but Zarathustra circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Zarathustra takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Figaro dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zarathustra. That did some damage!
Zarathustra stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Figaro.
Zarathustra has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Zarathustra looks winded!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Figaro, as that shot connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Figaro tries to score a power double leg takedown but Zarathustra sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Figaro somewhat.
Zarathustra takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Zarathustra looks to land a left hand but Figaro moved out of range nicely.
A bone on bone clash there as Zarathustra blocks the leg kick.
Zarathustra tries to work over Figaro's front leg with a kick but Figaro checks it.
Zarathustra checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Figaro connects with a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zarathustra tests Figaro's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Figaro tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Zarathustra is able to avoid easily.
Figaro just misses with a punch to the body.
Zarathustra uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Figaro.
Zarathustra ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Figaro moves away.
Figaro scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A big right from Figaro misses.
Figaro lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Zarathustra throws a lazy right hand but Figaro sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zarathustra misses with a hook to the body

and Figaro counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Figaro throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zarathustra is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Figaro pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zarathustra blocking the ground and pound attempt from Figaro.
Figaro trying to control from half guard but Zarathustra is working away.
Figaro throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Figaro is trying to control. Zarathustra wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Zarathustra is trying to control but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Figaro wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zarathustra keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sabin Figaro wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Zarathustra takes a swing at Figaro's ribcage but misses.
Zarathustra takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Zarathustra misses with a body shot.
Figaro lands a nice looking body kick.
Figaro throws a leg kick which misses Zarathustra's front leg but catches the back leg as Zarathustra tries to avoid it.
Nice shot lands for Figaro.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Figaro feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Zarathustra's calf.

Figaro waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Zarathustra. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Zarathustra to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


Zarathustra is rocked!


That has opened up Also Zarathustra's cut even more.
Figaro controls from within his opponent's guard.
Zarathustra is still in real trouble! Can Figaro finish him?
Zarathustra seems to have recovered his senses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Figaro has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Sabin Figaro wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Figaro, right into the meat.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zarathustra takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Figaro misses with a hook.
Figaro shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Figaro moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Zarathustra goes down! Can Figaro finish him!?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sabin Figaro dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Also Zarathustra's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Crack! Figaro connects with the perfect overhand right and Zarathustra falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Figaro!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sabin Figaro!
Sabin Figaro decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
