Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Warren G Benz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antoine De La Morte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benz comes to the cage accompanied by Gaff's Eulogy by Andrew Bayer. De La Morte has chosen The Prodigy - Spitfire as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Warren G Benz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Antoine De La Morte! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De La Morte throws an overhand right that lands on Benz's shoulder, as Benz tries to avoid the shot. Benz definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Benz misses with a straight right. De La Morte slips a straight right by Benz. De La Morte slips a straight right by Benz. Benz slips a jab and a cross from De La Morte.
Benz throws an ugly left hook that misses
and De La Morte decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Benz's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. De La Morte stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benz swivels though and keeps the full guard. De La Morte is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. De La Morte's corner is telling him to maintain position. Benz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
De La Morte throwing strikes from guard but Benz blocks nicely. De La Morte throws a big right hand that misses. Benz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for De La Morte on the ground. De La Morte looking to sit in guard and control but Benz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. De La Morte is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benz got a little sloppy there for a moment and De La Morte has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Benz has managed to get both his arms back between De La Morte's legs - danger averted. Our spies down at at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground inform us that De La Morte has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? De La Morte can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Benz controls the pace. De La Morte had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Benz defends it easily. De La Morte has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Benz is looking to stand up but De La Morte won't let him. Benz is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. De La Morte is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Benz defends well. De La Morte throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Benz trying to stand up but can't free himself from De La Morte's guard. De La Morte wants to control but Benz passes easily into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. De La Morte is trying to control but can't.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters are battling for position here. De La Morte manages to regain full guard. Nice work. De La Morte is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Benz is looking to pass into half guard but De La Morte pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now De La Morte is in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De La Morte is looking to work some ground and pound but Benz has wrist control. De La Morte is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Benz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Benz has escaped and now he's on top! De La Morte pushes a forearm under Benz's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Benz is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Antoine De La Morte! An out of breath Antoine De La Morte thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
