Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Ash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Montferrand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montferrand is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Big Joe Mufferaw. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Ash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joseph Montferrand! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ash displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Montferrand throws out the jab. Ash shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ash was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Montferrand tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ash wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ash wants to lay and pray for a moment but Montferrand keeps working. Ash creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Ash tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ash takes a little break here. Montferrand wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montferrand can do anything to dispel that myth. Ash wants to control but Montferrand is keeping him busy. Montferrand is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Montferrand is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Montferrand is looking for a sweep. Montferrand sneaks back into half guard. Montferrand is trying to get back to full guard. Montferrand pushes Ash off looking to stand but Ash dives back in and keeps control.
Ash is trying to control the action in half guard but Montferrand is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Montferrand tries to get to full guard but Ash has control of the leg. Montferrand keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Ash has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Montferrand trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ash seems to be working for a kimura but Montferrand defends the submission attempt. Ash tries to pass the half guard into mount. Montferrand knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Ash looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Montferrand wants to control but Ash is keeping busy and won't allow it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Montferrand blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ash. Ash is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Montferrand is just riding it out for now. Ash eventually gives up the hold.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montferrand is refusing to be controlled, as Ash sits in half guard. Montferrand wants to get back to full guard. Ash not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Ash seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Ash is trying to control. Montferrand wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Adam Ash wasn't doing enough on the ground. Montferrand gets tackled into the cage by Ash. Ash maintains the clinch. Ash is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Montferrand pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ash tries to pull guard but Montferrand forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Ash gets control of Montferrand's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ash will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Ash looking to control.
Montferrand scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Montferrand wants to control from the top but Ash keeps moving. Ash working a defensive guard here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Montferrand is looking to work some ground and pound but Ash has wrist control. Ash preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Montferrand missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Adam Ash dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A nice combination there by Montferrand.
It looks like Adam Ash has been cut. Montferrand looks to score with a jab to the body but Ash is just out of range. Montferrand swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ash shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Montferrand as he avoids it easily. Ash shoots in and gets a takedown into Montferrand's guard. Ash being controlled here momentarily. Ash postures up in Montferrand's guard and throws a big left but Montferrand blocks it. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Montferrand holds on and takes a little breather. Montferrand is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Montferrand is adopting a defensive guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Ash gets a takedown into half guard. Ash is looking to take a break and control but Montferrand is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Montferrand controlling the position for now. Ash is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Montferrand manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Montferrand is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Montferrand is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ash throws a big elbow that misses. Ash with a flurry of punches that miss. Montferrand being controlled here, momentarily. Montferrand keeping moving, preventing Ash from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Montferrand ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ash moves away. Ash has a takedown stuffed.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montferrand tries to bum rush Ash with a series of wild strikes but Ash uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ash doesn't succeed with the takedown and Montferrand counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Montferrand has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Ash. That's going to take a lot out of him. Some wild striking there from Montferrand.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ash. Montferrand lands with a nice body punch. Montferrand misses with a looping left. Ash wants to clinch. Ash tries to clinch there but Montferrand circles away.
Ash rushes Montferrand and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ash slows down the pace here.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ash takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Montferrand is trying to break the clinch but Ash has him pressed against the cage. Ash breaks from the clinch.

Montferrand keeps the fight on the outside. Ash tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sloppy strikes from Montferrand. Those never looked like landing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Joseph Montferrand will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Adam Ash's cut. That's time! Ash's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Ash shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Montferrand manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Ash wants to control from the top but Montferrand keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Montferrand utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ash throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Montferrand looking for a sweep. Not yet Montferrand, not yet. Montferrand manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ash is bucking up trying to escape but Montferrand cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Montferrand postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ash looks a forlorn figure.
Ash regains half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ash wants to get back to full guard.

Ash is not content to let Montferrand control the position. Ash wants to control but Montferrand is keeping busy.
Adam Ash overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Montferrand is keen to just control but Ash is a slippery customer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Montferrand misses with a double jab.

Ash tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Montferrand was well out of range. Poor timing from Ash. Ash throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Montferrand's waist but Montferrand gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ash off to one side. Montferrand lands a right hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montferrand jabs at Ash's body. Ash walks into a jab. Ash throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Montferrand. Ash with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Montferrand to score with a decent uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ash avoids the body shot from Montferrand.
Montferrand throws a body punch but Ash moves out of range. Montferrand is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ash rather than just go for the knockout. Montferrand swings and misses with a shot to the body and Ash counters with a shoot takedown. Montferrand fights it but they end up in guard. Ash in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ash pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Montferrand is keeping the position for now. Montferrand looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ash is one step ahead there. Montferrand is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ash walks into a stiff left hand from Montferrand. Ash defending well as Montferrand loads up on a big left hand. Montferrand on the wrong end of a nice jab. Montferrand thows a left - swing and a miss! Montferrand moves forwards but Ash connects with a nice, crisp jab. Ash tries to clinch there but Montferrand circles away.

Ash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Montferrand swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Montferrand looking for a sweep. Not yet Montferrand, not yet. Ash trying to control the position from guard on top but Montferrand is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Adam Ash. I think Ash has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
