Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jerry Nassoon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Peters! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nassoon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nassoon lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nassoon trying to control but Peters is working from the bottom. Nassoon stands and steps away. Peters gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Nassoon throws a lazy head kick enabling Peters to counter with a crisp jab. Nassoon dives in and scores a takedown into Peters's guard. Nassoon trying to stand up but can't free himself from Peters's guard. Nassoon looking to sit in guard and control but Peters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nassoon wants to improve his position but instead Peters has moved into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nassoon keeping control of the position. Peters scores with a couple of good hammerfists. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nassoon is positioning himself well to prevent Peters advancing to mount. Peters is just content to waste time from the top position. Nassoon takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Nassoon working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peters.

Peters not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nassoon is trying to get back to full guard. Peters misses with a head shot. Nassoon uses the momentum to regain guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Nassoon is pulling down on Peters's head to control his posture. Peters gets caught napping as Nassoon dives in and scores a takedown. Peters manages to retain guard. Peters will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Our spies down at at Rape Academy inform us that Peters has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Nassoon stands up from Peters's guard - Nassoon perhaps looking for a knockout. Nassoon closes the distance and pushes Peters back into the cage. Nassoon breaks from the clinch.
Nassoon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Peters is looking to sweep but instead, Nassoon has passed into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nassoon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Peters doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nassoon.
