Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Ratliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stuart Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stuart Cole has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Douglas Ratliff's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Douglas Ratliff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stuart Cole! The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Skip Squint and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cole throws a lazy head kick and Ratliff counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Cole is looking for a triangle here but Ratliff uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Ratliff tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ratliff is staying tight to Cole's torso, preventing him from escaping. Cole wants to get back to his feet but Ratliff drags him back down. Cole being controlled for a moment. Ratliff trying to control the position but Cole is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ratliff controls the position from side control. Cole wants to get back to his feet. Ratliff working the ground and pound from side control. Cole is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Ratliff in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Ratliff scoring with punches and elbows. Cole pushes Ratliff away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ratliff gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Cole looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ratliff tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ratliff has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Cole seems a little lost for a moment, as Ratliff dominates the positioning. Cole tries to improve position but can't. A control attempt from Cole but he's now mounted! BOOM! Ratliff connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ratliff controlling from the full mount. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cole is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ratliff sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Cole squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Ratliff with the ground and pound from mount. Ratliff takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cole is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ratliff controlling from the full mount. Ratliff really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cole wants to hold on but Ratliff pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cole is looking to get to half guard. Ratliff controlling his opponent. Ratliff with good strikes from the mount here! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. You get the feeling that Cole really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Cole throws a sloppy head kick letting Ratliff counter with a right hand. Ratliff closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cole to the mat! Cole manages to get full guard. Cole wants to get back to his feet but Ratliff is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ratliff controlling from the top position. Cole wants to get back to his feet but Ratliff is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ratliff stands and steps away. Cole gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Cole tries to clinch there but Ratliff circles away.
Ratliff shoots in but Cole avoids the takedown attempt easily. Cole is breathing heavily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ratliff.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cole throws a lazy head kick letting Ratliff counter with a right hand. Ratliff fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Douglas Ratliff. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cole throws a sloppy head kick letting Ratliff counter with a right hand. Cole shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ratliff is trying to defend but Cole finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Cole prevents Ratliff from improving his position. Ratliff moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ratliff throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cole makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Cole cracks Ratliff with a solid left hand. Cole is looking to work some ground and pound but Ratliff has wrist control. Ratliff is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cole decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Cole throws a sloppy head kick and Ratliff counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Cole!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cole is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Ratliff is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cole's shoulder. That is not cool. Cole is looking for a sweep. The referee asks Ratliff politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Ratliff prefers to stall for the moment though. Cole tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ratliff presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Cole manages to regain half guard. Good work. Cole tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Cole should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ratliff with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Cole manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ratliff keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Ratliff goes for a takedown attempt but Cole pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Cole throws a lazy head kick and Ratliff connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ratliff looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Cole is trying to stand.
Douglas Ratliff overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ratliff is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cole doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ratliff. Cole flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Cole throws a head kick that misses letting Ratliff counter with a right hand. Cole throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Cole takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A head kick by Cole misses and Ratliff counters with a one-two to the body. Cole throws a lazy head kick and Ratliff counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cole shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ratliff's guard. Ratliff manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cole manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ratliff advances to half guard. Ratliff content to control rather than advance. Ratliff prevents Cole from standing back up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ratliff seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cole for as long as he can get away with. Ratliff moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Cole.
Ratliff moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Cole is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cole is looking to reverse the position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Cole wants to get back to his feet but Ratliff drags him back down. Cole bucks up and tries to throw Ratliff off but instead Ratliff has got his back! Ratliff has his arm under Cole's chin here. Game over son! Ratliff squeezes tightly and Cole is forced to tap out!
