Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mako Choliman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James James! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, John Kavanagh and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Choliman swivels and escapes. James swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Choliman which made him look bad. James shoots for a takedown but Choliman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Mako Choliman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James James. Choliman with a poor takedown and James counters with a series of strikes. Choliman will be more careful next time no doubt. James fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Choliman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and James counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by James.
That's one minute gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Choliman wants to stand but James is controlling the position. Choliman looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there. Choliman is trying to keep James in close.
James postures up in Choliman's guard and throws a big left but Choliman blocks it. Choliman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Choliman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. James working some strikes from top position. Choliman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. James won't allow Choliman to sweep him here. James won't allow Choliman to get back to his feet. James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Choliman looking for a sweep. Not yet Choliman, not yet. Choliman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Choliman tries to get out of the position. Choliman pulls James in close to prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Mako Choliman just wasn't active enough. No luck for James with that takedown attempt. James shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Choliman sprawls well. Choliman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. James gets slowly back to his feet. James slaps away a takedown attempt from Choliman, before circling back to the center of the mat. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Choliman napping and manages to drive through into side control! James scores with a couple of short elbows. James tries to score with some ground and pound. Choliman controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Choliman can't do much from the bottom here. Choliman manages to work his way to half guard, despite James's best efforts. Choliman preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Choliman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Choliman is looking to escape. James thows a huge punch but Choliman dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Choliman is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard. Choliman is trying is best to control the position here. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. James lands a nice short elbow. James throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Choliman slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! James throws a big right hand that misses. Choliman is adopting a defensive guard. James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. James missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. James postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. James is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Choliman wants to sweep here but James controlling him for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James throwing strikes but missing. James working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Choliman to the ground. James is now in Choliman's guard. James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Choliman looking to hit a scissor sweep but James is one step ahead there. James scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Choliman is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Choliman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
James stands up over Choliman, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Choliman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Choliman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
James in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Choliman working James over with strikes here. James is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Choliman controlling from the full mount. A nice elbow there by Choliman.
James is rocked! James takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Choliman's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
