PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beast Cobain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pew Pew (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pew Pew will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Beast Cobain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pew Pew!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pew avoids the body shot from Cobain.

Pew is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cobain's half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pew seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Cobain is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cobain is trying to stand.
Cobain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pew on the ground.
Pew wants to control but Cobain is keeping him busy.
Still in half guard, Pew seems content to control.
Pew passes to full mount!
Cobain can't escape the position.
Pew is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pew controlling from mount.
Pew trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Cobain is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pew takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cobain could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pew Pew has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Pew pushes Cobain up against the cage in a clinch.
Cobain prevents the takedown attempt.
Pew has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cobain avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Cobain turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Cobain manages to end up in side control.
We've been hearing that Cobain has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Cobain postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Pew wants to control but Cobain postures up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pew sneaks back into half guard.
Pew pushes Cobain off looking to stand but Cobain dives back in and keeps control.
Pew tries to get to full guard but Cobain has control of the leg.
Cobain throwing shots but Pew is blocking nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cobain works his way into side control.

Cobain working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Cobain thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Pew manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Pew takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Pew trying to control the action but Cobain is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pew Pew was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Pew forces Cobain back against the cage and clinches.
Pew tries for a takedown but Cobain manages to get underhooks.
Beast Cobain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pew Pew.
Pew is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Cobain gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Cobain lands a nice knee to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pew tries for a takedown but Cobain manages to get underhooks.

Cobain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pew tries for a takedown but Cobain sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pew throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cobain's waist but Cobain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pew off to one side.
Pew looks winded!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cobain scores with a spinning back kick!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pew.
No joy there for Cobain, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pew Pew dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Cobain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pew defends it nicely.
Some wild striking there from Cobain.
Pew misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Pew drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pew trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Pew drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cobain dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pew has momentary wrist control but Cobain slips an elbow through the middle.
Pew looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Pew wants to get back to his feet but Cobain is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cobain throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pew works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pew had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cobain defends it easily.
Cobain distracts Pew with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Pew has Cobain pulled in close to control his posture.
Cobain postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Cobain won't allow Pew to get back to his feet.

Cobain has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pew to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Cobain is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pew pulls down on the head and he's put Cobain to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Pew Pew!
