The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guiffard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Guiffard lands in his opponent's guard.
Franklin wants to stand but Guiffard is controlling the position.
Franklin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Franklin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Guiffard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Guiffard is working for a kimura but Franklin is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Let's hope that Guiffard has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Franklin is looking to stand up but Guiffard isn't so interested in that idea.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Guiffard works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Franklin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guiffard lands a big shot there that rocks Franklin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Julien Guiffard dominated that round.
That's time! Franklin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Franklin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Guiffard counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Franklin! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!
