PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruki Rabota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez has chosen UFC - Face the Pain as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruki Rabota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rabota tries for a takedown but Velasquez circles away easily

and Velasquez counters by clinching up.
Rabota landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Rabota definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Rabota with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Rabota swings wildly with an uppercut but Velasquez uses good head movement to avoid it.
Velasquez wants a takedown.

Velasquez gets control of Rabota's arms and successfully pulls guard. Velasquez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Velasquez has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Rabota has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Rabota is pressed up against the cage. Velasquez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rabota down to the mat. Rabota avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rabota tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Velasquez counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rabota tries to improve position but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velasquez advances nicely into full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velasquez lands a nice shot to the head.

It looks like Ruki Rabota has been cut.
Rabota is in a horrible position here. Velasquez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Rabota is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Velasquez cracks Rabota with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Velasquez!
