Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Elmer Hodge! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Clark Master! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Master.
Nice takedown defense from Hodge. No joy for Master on that attempt. Master moves into the clinch. Hodge could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hodge is looking to control Master's arms but Master gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hodge has his back to the cage. Hodge is trying to pull guard but Master has him pressed against the cage. Hodge taking a breather. Hodge taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Elmer Hodge. Master drives through with a takedown into Hodge's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Hodge looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Master wanted to stand there but Hodge had control of the position. Master working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hodge's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Master stopping the sweep attempt from Hodge. Hodge knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Master on the ground. Master is stalling in the full guard. Master stands and throws Hodge's legs to the side, diving into side control. Master is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Master wants to stand but Hodge has his arm trapped.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Master thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. An elbow from Master crashes against the mat.
Hodge tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Master wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hodge seems a little lost for a moment, as Master dominates the positioning. Master tries to stand but Hodge is controlling his head. Master is staying tight to Hodge's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodge tries to buck Master off but Master is having none of it. Master wants to stand but Hodge is controlling his arm. Master slows the pace down. Master cracks Hodge with a big elbow. Hodge is working to avoid the ground and pound but Master connects with a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hodge is trying to escape the position but Master is controlling the position. Master has hold of Hodge's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hodge tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Master cranks the arm and Hodge screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hodge, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Clark Master!
