Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Serra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duane Stockton!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra shoots in looking for a takedown. Stockton tries to sprawl out of it but Serra keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stockton manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stockton stuffs the takedown attempt from Serra. Serra gets slowly back to his feet.
Stockton lands with a nice combination. Serra backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Matt Serra has been cut.
Serra fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stockton avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Serra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stockton fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stockton pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Serra back to the cage. Stockton follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Serra dodges the punch combination from Stockton.
Stockton lands with an overhand left.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stockton. Serra does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stockton misses the shot to the body.
Stockton scores with a jab to the head.
Stockton throws a series of punches but Serra avoids them all with ease.
Stockton lands with a good body shot.

Stockton dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Serra takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Serra uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stockton.

Stockton forces Serra back against the cage and clinches.
Serra is trying to drag Stockton to the mat but Stockton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Serra jumps guard and drags Stockton to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Stockton wanted to stand there but Serra had control of the position.
Serra has his hands on Stockton's head, controlling the position.

Stockton avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stockton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Serra is proving hard to escape from.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Duane Stockton wasn't active enough on the ground.

Stockton dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Serra.

Stockton closes the distance and clinches.

Serra manages to pull guard.

Serra is looking for a triangle but Stockton pushes his legs off easily.

Serra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Stockton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stockton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Stockton has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Serra is proving hard to escape from.
Serra seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Serra tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Stockton wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Serra's closed guard. He's half up but Serra has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Serra pivots and extends the arm, Stockton falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Serra! Well done that man!

Matt Serra decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
