Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elisha Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weidman has chosen Lupang Hinirang as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Elisha Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Weidman! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter throws a looping overhand right but Weidman ducks down to avoid it. Carter clinches up against the cage. Weidman tries to land knees in the clinch but Carter avoids the damage to the body. Weidman stops a takedown attempt from Carter.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Carter successfully pulls guard.

Weidman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carter is looking to escape. Carter really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Carter avoids a strike by Weidman and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Weidman's guard! Fantastic escape!
Carter connects with a couple of short punches. Carter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Carter wants to pass the guard but Weidman is keeping the position. Weidman working a defensive guard but Carter manages to pass into side control anyway.
Carter tries for a kimura but Weidman is defending well. Weidman is trying to get back to half guard. Weidman taking a bit of punishment here - Carter scoring with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Weidman keeps working. Weidman tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Weidman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Carter is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Weidman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Chris Weidman will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Carter fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Weidman misses with a takedown and Carter counters with a single leg into guard. Weidman didn't expect that. Carter controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Carter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Weidman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Carter wants to control from the top but Weidman keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Weidman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carter manages to get himself to full guard.

Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Weidman would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Carter wants to get back to his feet but Weidman is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Weidman looking to sit in guard and control but Carter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Weidman looking for a sweep. Not yet Weidman, not yet. Weidman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well. Carter wants to control from the top but Weidman keeps moving. Weidman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Weidman is breathing heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Elisha Carter wasn't doing enough on the ground. Carter swats away the attempt to clinch by Weidman.

It looks like Elisha Carter has been cut. Carter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Carter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Weidman tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Carter easily slips into full mount! Weidman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Weidman sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Weidman wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Chris Weidman will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Elisha Carter's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Weidman fails with a takedown attempt. Weidman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Weidman wants it to stay on the feet. Weidman stuffs the takedown. The fight moves into the clinch position. Weidman is pushing Carter up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Carter is trying to stall.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Weidman obliges. A right handed body shot lands from Weidman.
Carter jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Weidman walks away with a smile on his face. Carter gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elisha Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter shoots in for a takedown but Weidman shows good takedown defense. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Weidman fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Weidman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carter paws at him with a jab and circles away. Carter avoids the head kick by Weidman.
Weidman darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage. Carter is trying to pull guard but Weidman has him pressed against the cage. Carter taking a breather. Weidman landing knees to the head.
Carter tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Weidman smiles and moves away.
Weidman misses with a few strikes there.
Weidman closes the distance looking to clinch and Carter counters with a shoot takedown. Weidman fights it but they end up in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carter trying to control but Weidman is working from the bottom. Weidman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Weidman looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Our spies down at at BLACKSMITH GYM - THE 25 Coach Las Vegas Mega-Gym inform us that Weidman has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? There's a bit of a scramble here and now Weidman is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Weidman throws a strike but Carter rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Weidman looking for a guillotine here but Carter defends easily.
Carter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Carter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Weidman is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Weidman is trying to control the position but Carter postures up. Weidman wants to hit a switch here but Carter passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Weidman there! Weidman takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Weidman tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Carter is landing with some decent strikes but Weidman is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Elisha Carter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chris Weidman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Carter lands a big elbow.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Elisha Carter. I think Weidman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
