PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neil Raster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rory Velko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raster comes to the cage accompanied by Time Bomb. Velko has chosen Wild Eyes as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Francis DeMontford.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raster misses with the combination.
Velko lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Neil Raster has been cut.
Velko gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Raster misses with a low kick.
Raster throws an overhand right that lands on Velko's shoulder, as Velko tries to avoid the shot.
Raster getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Velko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The crowd cheers as Raster lands an impressive looking overhand right. Velko doesn't seem phased though.
Velko gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Velko feints and then cracks Raster's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Raster down.

A looping hook to the body misses from Raster. Velko does a little dance to reset his feet.

Oooooh!!! Raster has knocked Velko down with a huge combo! Raster steps away and waves a wobbly Velko back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Velko displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Raster throws out the jab.

Velko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Raster is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Velko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Raster moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Velko counters with a big head kick but Raster shrugs it off.

Velko fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

and Velko counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Raster keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Velko fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Raster has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Raster lunges at Velko with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Velko's hand.

Raster looks to land a combination but Velko avoids it well.
Velko lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Raster throws a head kick but Velko moves out of range.
Raster avoids a punch combination nicely.
Velko takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Velko throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Raster to counter with a crisp jab.

and Velko counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Raster misses with a hook to the body
and Velko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Raster dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Velko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Raster.
Velko finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raster connects with a nice looking jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Raster throws a low kick, looking for Velko's leg but Velko calmly moves out of range.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Velko might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Raster has got the better of the exchanges.

Raster clobbers Velko with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Neil Raster is winning the standup battle so far.
No joy there for Raster, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Raster is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Raster looks to throw the jab but Velko is out of range.
Velko throws an overhand right that lands on Raster's shoulder, as Raster tries to avoid the shot.
Neil Raster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Velko on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Raster throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A combination from Velko does no damage.

Raster drops Velko with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Velko looks back up at him and smiles so Raster waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Raster throws the left hand but Velko avoids the punch easily.

Raster lunges at Velko with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Velko's hand.

Raster throws a low kick but it's checked well by Velko.

Raster lands with a big right hook that stumbles Velko - he's out on his feet here! Raster follows up with another monster hook that separates Velko from consciousness! Velko falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Raster stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Neil Raster really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Project Mayhem logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
