Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Abatti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johan Sandskagg! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sandskagg takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Abatti displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sandskagg throws out the jab. The fighters circling - Sandskagg throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Abatti is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Abatti misses with a few strikes there.
Johan Sandskagg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sandskagg moves out of range as Abatti throws a body kick.
Nice defenses there by Abatti. Sandskagg thows a left - swing and a miss! Sandskagg connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Abatti momentarily.
Abatti throws a series of strikes that have Sandskagg backpedaling.
It looks like Johan Sandskagg has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Good work by Sandskagg as he checks the leg kick. Abatti lands with an uppercut that bounces Sandskagg off the cage and back into range. Abatti slips under a jab. Abatti throws a hook but Sandskagg avoids it easily. Abatti slips under a jab from Sandskagg. Sandskagg throws a shot from downtown. Abatti moves away and avoids it. Sandskagg with a hook. Sandskagg swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Sandskagg misses with an uppercut
and Abatti counters with a nice uppercut. Abatti misses with a body kick. Abatti drops Sandskagg with a beautiful combination! Sandskagg stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Abatti is looking for the KO!
Sandskagg is rocked! Sandskagg works the jab nicely. Sandskagg is still on wobbly legs! Can Abatti finish him?
That's one minute gone in the round. Sandskagg throws an overhand right that lands on Abatti's shoulder, as Abatti tries to avoid the shot. Sandskagg misses with a looping left. Abatti slips under a jab from Sandskagg. Sandskagg avoids a kick to the body.
Sandskagg might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Sandskagg walks into a left hand. Sandskagg avoids a kick to the body.
Sandskagg defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Abatti. Abatti ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Sandskagg throws a jab but it's blocked by Abatti. Sandskagg walks into a straight right hand from Abatti. Abatti digs a good hook to Sandskagg's body.
Abatti ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Abatti scores with a jab to the body. Sandskagg looks winded! Abatti punishes Sandskagg's body with a nice straight punch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sandskagg misses the jab. Abatti connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sandskagg. Sandskagg circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Abatti lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sandskagg at a distance.
Abatti throws a sloppy head kick and Sandskagg moves out of range easily. Abatti throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sandskagg stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Abatti throws a push kick but Sandskagg slaps the foot to one side. Abatti with a body punch. A glancing blow. Abatti lands with a cross. A lazy left from Abatti finds it's target. Abatti connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Sandskagg! He's out on his feet! Abatti rushes in and drops Sandskagg with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Johnny Abatti! During a confident post fight interview, Johnny Abatti thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Johan Sandskagg spoke after the fight, saying 'It's my grandfather fault.'.
