Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arakel Gevorgyan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Matt Fondelier! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fondelier fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gevorgyan with a lazy takedown attempt and Fondelier counters with a nice body shot. Gevorgyan tries to clinch up but Fondelier circles away and keeps his distance. Horrible takedown by Gevorgyan or perhaps it was just good defense by Fondelier which made him look bad. Gevorgyan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arakel Gevorgyan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gevorgyan shoots in but Fondelier avoids the takedown attempt easily. Gevorgyan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fondelier avoids it really well and circles away. Gevorgyan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fondelier as he jumps to the side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fondelier lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Arakel Gevorgyan has been cut. Fondelier connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Fondelier moves into range and clinches up with Gevorgyan. Gevorgyan wants to break the clinch but can't.
A short right from Fondelier on the inside. Fondelier wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gevorgyan has him pressed against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gevorgyan is trying to break the clinch but Fondelier has him pressed against the cage. Gevorgyan missing with knees to the body.
Fondelier pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Fondelier fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Gevorgyan misses with a takedown attempt and Fondelier counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Gevorgyan! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!
