Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Lock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Craig Rave!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Lock misses its intended target.
Rave closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lock circles away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rave.
Lock tries to bench press Rave off him but Rave keeps the position.
Lock is working to avoid the ground and pound but Rave connects with a decent elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rave postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Lock is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Lock dodges the ground and pound from Rave.
Rave misses with the ground and pound.

Rave wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lock, who protects the arm well.
Rave is looking to take a break and control but Lock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rave tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rave has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lock holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rave tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Rave pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lock avoids a strike by Rave and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Rave's guard! Fantastic escape!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Craig Rave dominated that round.
That's time! Lock's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rave takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Rave keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lock.
Rave's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lock connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rave scrambles back to his feet.
Lock buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lock throws a hook but Rave blocks it.
John Lock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rave displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lock throws out the jab.

and Rave decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lock's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lock has momentary wrist control but Rave slips an elbow through the middle.

Rave loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Rave is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lock pulls Rave in to control the position.
Lock keeping full guard, as Rave tries to pass.
Rave slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lock is not content to let Rave control the position.
Lock on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Lock regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rave's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Rave is working for a submission of some sort.
Craig Rave has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rave looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lock blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rave.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rave looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Rave is trying to control the action in half guard but Lock is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rave is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lock is just riding it out for now. Rave eventually gives up the hold.

Rave is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lock has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Rave showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Lock throws a lazy right hand but Rave sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lock throws a jab but it's blocked by Rave.
Lock misses with an uppercut

and Rave counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rave stands and throws Lock's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rave throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Lock is trying to improve his position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rave working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Rave is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Rave is working for a kimura but Lock is defending it quite comfortably.

Rave looking to finish Lock with some ground and pound. This is bad for Lock!
Craig Rave is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Rave lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lock taking shots to the head.

Rave is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lock can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Poor strikes thrown by Rave there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Lock wants to hold on but Rave pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rave takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lock is in all sorts of trouble here.
