Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarred Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Mercenary. Jarred Rose has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Rose wants to clinch.
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Rose.
A swing and a miss from Smith.
Rose wants to clinch.
Rose tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rose wants to clinch up but Smith keeps it at a distance.
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Rose lands a nice shot that snaps Smith's head back.

Smith throws a shot from downtown. Rose moves away and avoids it.
Rose tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.

A nice inside leg kick there by Smith. That's going to slow Rose down.

Smith lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Rose tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A solid leg kick lands there for Smith.
Rose tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rose closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Rose pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rose walks into a straight right hand from Smith.

Rose scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Smith is staying active underneath Rose, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Smith is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at MMA Warrior (1000$ / 15 Elite Coaches) that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rose working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Rose decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smith to his feet.

Rose shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rose tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Rose feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rose manages to get himself to full guard.

Rose has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Rose counters with a single leg into guard. Smith didn't expect that.
Jarred Rose has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rose is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith wants to pass the guard but Rose is keeping the position.

Rose is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Smith frees his head nicely. Oh but Rose has switched to an armbar! Smith is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
