Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between William Carr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Filipovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mirko Filipovic! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Filipovic shoots in looking for a takedown. Carr tries to sprawl out of it but Filipovic keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carr manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Filipovic tries a head kick but it misses.
Carr has managed to clinch.

Filipovic closes the distance and clinches up with Carr, looking for a takedown. Filipovic pushes Carr against the cage but Carr circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Carr is trying to push Filipovic away but Filipovic has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Filipovic being controlled against the cage. Filipovic wants to break free but Carr has control.
Filipovic is looking to control Carr's arms but Carr gets an underhook and turns him. Now Filipovic has his back to the cage. Filipovic drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Carr gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Carr fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Filipovic avoids it really well and circles away. William Carr dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Carr is looking to break free of the clinch but Filipovic has double underhooks. Filipovic is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carr is defending well for now. Carr tries to break free but Filipovic pushes him back against the cage. Filipovic has Carr pressed against the cage, preventing Carr from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Filipovic prevents Carr from breaking the clinch.

Filipovic decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carr, up you get! Filipovic tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Carr defends well and Filipovic ends up having to push Carr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Filipovic is breathing heavily. Filipovic jumps guard but Carr stands there with Filipovic around his waist. Filipovic gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Carr looks for a takedown but Filipovic sprawls well. Carr closes the distance and clinches. Carr wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Filipovic with a poor takedown and Carr counters with a right hand to the body. Carr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Filipovic stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Filipovic wants it to stay on the feet. Carr closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Filipovic to the mat! Filipovic manages to get full guard. Carr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Filipovic displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carr. Carr scores with a kick to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carr lands a jab. Filipovic shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carr pinned against the cage. Carr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Carr shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Filipovic manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Filipovic has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Carr has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
William Carr dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Carr drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Filipovic had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Carr defends it easily. Carr stands up over Filipovic, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Filipovic throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Carr escapes and throws Filipovic's legs to the side, diving into side control! Filipovic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Filipovic taking punishment in the form of punches.
Filipovic manages to work his way to half guard, despite Carr's best efforts. Carr is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Filipovic is trying to stand up here but Carr is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Filipovic is trying to control but Carr manages to pass to mount!
Carr wants to control the pace but Filipovic is squirming around nicely. Filipovic tries to hold on but Carr postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Filipovic reaches up to try and control the position but Carr seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Filipovic rolls and tries to escape and now Carr has his back!

Filipovic is trying to stand back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Filipovic defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard. Filipovic looking to sit in guard and control but Carr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that's the end of the fight! William Carr showed his dominance in that final round. Well Carr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
