Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chad Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ti Rudy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chad Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ti Rudy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rudy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Rudy looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Rudy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shaw to the mat! Shaw manages to get full guard.
Rudy trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rudy stopping the sweep attempt from Shaw.
Rudy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shaw's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaw wants to control but Rudy is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Rudy stands up and beckons Shaw to join him on the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Rudy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rudy rushes Shaw and presses him up against the cage.

Shaw pulls guard effortlessly.
Shaw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rudy on the ground.
Shaw looking for a sweep. Not yet Shaw, not yet.

Rudy chips away with some ground and pound.
Shaw keeping moving, preventing Rudy from controlling successfully.
Shaw has Rudy pulled in close to control his posture.
Rudy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shaw is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rudy trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shaw trying to keep a closed guard but Rudy is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Shaw clinches.

Shaw manages to break the clinch.
Shaw looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Rudy throws a front kick aimed at Shaw's knee but Shaw avoids it well.
Shaw shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rudy as he jumps to the side.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shaw looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rudy shoots and misses
and Shaw counters with a body kick that stops Rudy in his tracks momentarily.

Shaw shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Shaw lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Rudy hang on?
Rudy is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shaw thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Shaw moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rudy has worked his arm free - good work by Rudy!
Shaw lands a decent elbow from side control.
Rudy is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Shaw off and has taken his back!
The referee is taking a good look at Shaw as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Rudy!
Rudy scores with strikes from the back.
Rudy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shaw is in a bad position with Rudy working for a choke. Shaw manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Rudy managing to control the position.
Rudy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Shaw could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Shaw landing with the ground and pound.
Shaw scoring with punches to the head and body.
Shaw trying to control but Rudy is working from the bottom.
Rudy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shaw is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ti Rudy will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Shaw has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rudy taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Rudy has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Shaw clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Shaw tries to roll but Rudy sticks to his back.
Shaw is trapped and Rudy is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Shaw trying to control the position but Rudy manages to sink in the hooks.
Rudy tries to get the hooks in deep but Shaw pushed the leg off.

Rudy tightening his grip on Shaw, looking for the choke.
Rudy is not going to allow Shaw to sit and survive in this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shaw tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Rudy blocks Shaw's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Rudy has control of Shaw's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shaw regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Rudy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Shaw has worked his arm free - good work by Shaw!
Rudy is looking to take a break and control but Shaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rudy is staying tight to Shaw's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Rudy wants to control but Shaw is keeping him busy.
Rudy tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Shaw is not content to let Rudy control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shaw is trying to get back to his feet.
Rudy is looking to take a break and control but Shaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Shaw counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Rudy gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shaw.
Rudy drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shaw pulls his leg out and moves away.
Chad Shaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ti Rudy.
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rudy paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rudy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A left and a right from Shaw both land. Nice combination.
Rudy tries to clinch up
and Shaw counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Shaw is looking to clinch but Rudy is avoiding it.
Shaw throws a right and a left that both miss.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rudy keeps Shaw at a distance using the push kick.
Shaw gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Rudy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Shaw looks to land a combination but Rudy avoids it well.
Shaw tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rudy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ti Rudy will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Shaw misses with a double jab
and Rudy counters with a two punch combo.
Some wild striking there from Shaw.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rudy.

Shaw closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Shaw looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rudy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Shaw thows a huge punch but Rudy dodges it nicely.

Shaw controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Shaw slips a nice elbow through Rudy's hands, connecting with Rudy's forehead.

Shaw wants to pass to mount but Rudy is defending the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rudy swats away the attempt to clinch by Shaw.

and Shaw counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Shaw drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rudy gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Rudy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Shaw. No joy for Rudy on that attempt.
Chad Shaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Shaw lands a jab-cross combination.

Rudy has managed to clinch.
Shaw tries to pull guard but Rudy holds him up against the cage and eventually Shaw drops back down to his feet.

Shaw wants to sweep here but Rudy controlling him for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chad Shaw showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rudy has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
