Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rey Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Ward has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rey Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Ward! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ward rushes Larson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Larson takes a knee right on the jaw!
Ward misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ward is trying to trip Larson. He has hold of a leg but Larson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Ward persists though and gets the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Larson keeping moving, preventing Ward from controlling successfully. Ward trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ward engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Larson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bill Ward wasn't active enough on the ground. Ward throws out a leg kick but Larson moves out of range and Ward only half commits.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Larson shoots in for a double leg but Ward sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rey Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Larson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Ward tries to clinch but Larson is having none of it. Larson misses with a takedown attempt and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Ward lands a really nice looking cross but Larson seems unphased.
Larson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Ward fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ward gets tackled into the cage by Larson. Larson maintains the clinch. Larson has clasped his hands together around Ward's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Larson trying to control the action but Ward is working from the bottom. Ward tries to improve position but can't. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. You can see the frustration on Ward's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ward explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Ward closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Ward manages to pull guard.
Larson controls from within his opponent's guard. Larson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ward, up you get!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward moves into the clinch. Ward has Larson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ward pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Larson tumbling to the mat - Ward dives into Larson's guard. Larson pulls Ward in close to prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ward trying to stand up but can't free himself from Larson's guard. Larson controls Ward momentarily but Ward frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward tries to free his leg and advance position but Larson is retaining full guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Rey Larson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Ward throws a low kick but Larson moves out of range easily. Ward gets tackled into the cage by Larson. Larson maintains the clinch. Ward tries to land a knee to the head but Larson blocks with his arms.
Ward prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ward gets a trip takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ward is trying to control the action in half guard but Larson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Larson regains full guard. Nicely done. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bill Ward dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Ward scores with a punch to the head. Larson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Ward defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Larson. Ward throws a nice looking combination but Larson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ward keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Larson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ward defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rey Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ward moves out of range as Larson throws a body kick.
Ward fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Larson, pushing him back against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Larson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Larson has Ward pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Larson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ward tumbling to the mat - Larson dives into Ward's guard. Larson stands up and waves to Ward to follow him. Ward tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Larson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Ward wants to clinch up but Larson keeps it at a distance. Ward drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Larson looks to move to half guard but instead Ward has passed into mount! Damn!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ward throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Ward can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Larson is looking to escape. Bill Ward has got the better of the ground game so far. Ward is trying to take his opponent's back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Larson tries to improve his position but instead Ward has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ward has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Ward is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Larson is defending well though. Ward let's go of the attempt for now. Larson trying to control the position but Ward manages to sink in the hooks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ward keeps control of the position as Larson tries to break free.

Bill Ward showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Larson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Ward lands with a slapping head kick. Rey Larson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Larson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ward sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ward lands with a nice combination. Larson backs away looking to recover.
It looks like Rey Larson has been cut. Ward tries to close the distance and clinch up but Larson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Larson swats away the attempt to clinch by Ward. Bill Ward is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ward wants to clinch and Larson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Larson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ward avoids it really well and circles away. Ward defending well as Larson loads up on a big left hand.

Ward jumps guard and drags Larson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Larson engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Ward wants to get back to his feet but Larson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rey Larson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Ward tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Larson paws at him with a jab and circles away. A low kick from Ward is predictable there and Larson counters with a single leg into guard. Ward didn't expect that. Larson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. A combination from Ward does no damage. Ward takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Ward as Larson shoots in. Larson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Ward tries to clinch up. Ward cracks the inside of Larson's front leg. Ward tries a head kick but it misses.

Larson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ward is fending him off so far but Larson persists. Nope, Ward circles away and we're back to standing.

Ward throws a leg kick which misses Larson's front leg but catches the back leg as Larson tries to avoid it. Larson with a lazy takedown attempt and Ward counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Larson thinking. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Larson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ward swivels and escapes. Bill Ward seems to be getting the better of the standup. Larson tries to sprawl but Ward drives through with a takedown into half guard. Rey Larson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bill Ward is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ward wants to lay and pray for a moment but Larson keeps working.
And that's the end of the fight! Bill Ward comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ward has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
