Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Yomata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Cheeseman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kenji Yomata!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Benjamin Cheeseman!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Cheeseman checks a leg kick.
Yomata tries to clinch there but Cheeseman circles away.
Yomata throws the left hand but Cheeseman avoids the punch easily.
Cheeseman bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Cheeseman stuffs the takedown.

Yomata shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Yomata is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cheeseman has managed to free his arm - good work.
Yomata trying to control from half guard but Cheeseman is working away.
Cheeseman is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Yomata thows a huge punch but Cheeseman dodges it nicely.
Cheeseman wants to get back to his feet.
Yomata is trying to control. Cheeseman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cheeseman looks like he's trying to stand up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yomata in particular looking to stall.
Yomata is keen to just control but Cheeseman is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cheeseman avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Yomata.
Yomata throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Yomata throwing shots but Cheeseman is blocking nicely.
Cheeseman is trying to stand back up but Yomata is controlling him

Yomata performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Kenji Yomata wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Cheeseman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Yomata.
Yomata gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Cheeseman.
Yomata fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenji Yomata. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cheeseman uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Yomata.
Cheeseman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yomata manages to avoid it.
Yomata takes a swing at Cheeseman's ribcage but misses.
Yomata fails to land with a series of punches.
Yomata misses with a low kick.
Yomata takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Cheeseman digs a good hook to Yomata's body.
Benjamin Cheeseman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cheeseman shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Yomata eats them both and turns towards Cheeseman to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A combination from Cheeseman does no damage.
Cheeseman looks winded!
A punch lands to the side of Yomata 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Cheeseman listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Cheeseman swats away the attempt to clinch by Yomata.
Cheeseman is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Yomata is looking to clinch.
Yomata shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cheeseman defends it nicely.
Yomata darts in looking for a takedown but Cheeseman gets double underhooks and turns Yomata into the cage.
Cheeseman is trying to force a seperation but Yomata has the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yomata pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Cheeseman lands a left and a right that send Yomata crashing to the mat, dazed. Cheeseman thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Yomata is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Yomata walks straight into a right hand from Cheeseman - that's dropped him! Cheeseman jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Yomata from any more punishment! Yomata complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Benjamin Cheeseman!
