PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chad Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Nelson both land. Nice combination.
Nelson wants to clinch.
Nelson looks to land a combination. Vega sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Nelson tries to clinch but Vega moves out of range.
Nelson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Vega takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Nelson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nelson wants it to stay on the feet.
Nelson lands a two punch combo.
Nelson cracks Vega with a good jab.
Nice sprawl there from Nelson as Vega shoots in.
Nelson throws a sloppy head kick and Vega moves out of range easily.

Nelson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Vega feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vega has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Chad Vega.
Vega misses with a takedown attempt - Nelson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Vega is nestled in close to Nelson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Vega wants to pass the guard but Nelson is defending well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vega in particular looking to stall.
Vega seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Vega closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Vega lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Vega looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nelson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Vega perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Vega has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Vega landing strikes, looking to finish!
Vega is landing with some decent strikes but Nelson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vega is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Nelson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
