PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bubba Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Sutter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gump comes to the cage accompanied by Fucking Hostile - Pantera. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bubba Gump!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Sutter!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gump tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sutter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gump drives through and clinches with Sutter against the cage.

Gump decides to pull guard.

Gump looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sutter wants to control from the top but Gump keeps moving.
Gump doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sutter distracts Gump with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Sutter working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gump's head.
Sutter with a flurry of punches that miss.

Gump has his foot on Sutter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sutter works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gump keeping moving, preventing Sutter from controlling successfully.
Sutter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Sutter working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Gump has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gump looking for a guillotine here but Sutter defends easily.
Gump will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gump wants to sweep here but Sutter controlling him for the moment.

Sutter missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Sutter stands up over Gump, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sutter wants to control from the top but Gump keeps moving.

Gump is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sutter defends well.

Sutter is working Gump over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gump is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sutter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Gump is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sutter is aware though and is defending well.
Sutter tries to free his leg and advance position but Gump is retaining full guard.

Sutter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Sutter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gump is keeping the position for now.

Gump tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sutter trying to control the position from guard on top but Gump is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sutter throws a big elbow that misses.
Gump manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gump landing strikes from the mount.
BOOM! Gump connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Sutter avoids a strike by Gump and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Gump's guard! Fantastic escape!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gump escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sutter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sutter content to stall in guard here.

Gump is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sutter is aware though and is defending well.
Sutter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Gump working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sutter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sutter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Sutter is looking to work some ground and pound but Gump has wrist control.
Gump has momentary wrist control but Sutter slips an elbow through the middle.
Sutter with a flurry of punches that miss.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gump working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sutter.
Sutter connects with a couple of short punches.
Sutter looking to sit in guard and control but Gump gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gump postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bubba Gump will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sutter leaves Gump with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sutter connects with a looping right hand.
Gump displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sutter.

Sutter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sutter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gump tries to buck Sutter off but Sutter is having none of it.
Gump dodges the ground and pound from Sutter.
Gump gets back to half guard.
Gump won't allow Sutter to pass to mount.
Sutter lands with a punch from half guard.
Sutter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sutter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sutter working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Gump is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sutter pulls his head out easily.

Sutter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gump's head.

Sutter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gump does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Gump is in trouble now - Sutter has advanced to mount!

Sutter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Gump is bucking up trying to escape but Sutter cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sutter postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Gump bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Sutter and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Sutter!
Our winner, Mark Sutter, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Bubba Gump was interviewed post fight and said 'I knew he was gonna be a challenge coming in. I guess I just wasn't up to it tonight...'.
