We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Diaz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Goodwin defends it easily. Diaz being controlled here, momentarily. Goodwin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Goodwin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Goodwin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Goodwin avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Diaz keeping moving, preventing Goodwin from controlling successfully. Goodwin tries to stand but Diaz is controlling from the bottom.

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Diaz!
This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Diaz. Diaz tries to land a front kick but Goodwin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Diaz misses with a double jab
and Goodwin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Goodwin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A bit of stalling here from Diaz.
Diaz jumps guard and drags Goodwin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Diaz is looking to cinch up a triangle. Goodwin throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Diaz's body to avoid the submission. Diaz has instead reached around Goodwin's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Diaz arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nick Diaz! A less than humble Nick Diaz misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
