Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tomas Shepherd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rexford King! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shepherd slips a jab and a cross from King.
King has managed to clinch.
King stalling in the clinch.
King has picked Shepherd up - he's going for a ride! King dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shepherd is staying active underneath King, who seems content to just control the action from this position. King seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. King throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. King not landing any meaningful shots this time. King seems to be looking for submissions.
Shepherd throws a strike from the bottom but King passes into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. King landing strikes. Shepherd prevents King from moving into mount. King stands up and beckons Shepherd to his feet. Shepherd tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. King is looking to clinch. A momentary lapse in concentration from Shepherd enables King to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shepherd manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. King postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shepherd is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of King, into his guard. Shepherd looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shepherd is one step ahead there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! King looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Shepherd has picked King up and slammed him! King can't keep hold of the triangle and Shepherd manages to pass to side control! King is looking to reverse the position. King is trying to strike from the bottom but Shepherd has passed into full mount. King tries to lock up and control but Shepherd gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. King looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! King is trying to stand back up. Shepherd is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! King is tapping out! This one is all over!
