Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Hewson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mick Penn! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Penn misses. Penn shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Penn misses with a hook to the body
and Hewson counters with a right hand to the body. Some wild striking there from Hewson.
Hewson displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Penn swings widly with a right hand
and Hewson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. A nice inside leg kick there by Hewson. That's going to slow Penn down. Hewson scores with a nice body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Penn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hewson lands a jab to the nose. Penn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hewson tries to avoid it but Penn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hewson to the ground. Hewson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Hewson lands a body shot.

Hewson staying out of range there. Penn with a lazy takedown attempt and Hewson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Penn thinking. Paul Hewson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mick Penn. Penn throws a shot from downtown. Hewson moves away and avoids it. Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hewson manages to avoid it. Hewson throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Penn stumbling backwards into the cage! Penn bounces back off the cage towards Hewson, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Hewson lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Hewson celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Paul Hewson! Paul Hewson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
