1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Pettis! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emerson gets caught napping as Pettis dives in and scores a takedown. Emerson manages to retain guard. Pettis looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Emerson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Anthony Pettis wasn't active enough on the ground. A head kick misses from Pettis. Pettis looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis gets a double leg takedown into Emerson's guard. Pettis has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Emerson is proving hard to escape from. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Emerson clinches up against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Pettis's face as he tries to break the clinch. Emerson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Pettis's elbow. Pettis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Nice body punch from Emerson. Pettis pulls guard effortlessly. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pettis is looking to sweep but instead, Emerson has passed into half guard.

Emerson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pettis is just riding it out for now. Emerson eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pettis wants to get back to his feet. Emerson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pettis sees it coming and defends easily. Emerson prevents Pettis from standing back up.

Stanley Emerson dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Emerson moves in looking to clinch but Pettis pushes him off. Pettis throws a head kick that misses and Emerson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Pettis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Pettis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Emerson. Pettis rushes Emerson and presses him up against the cage. Emerson has Pettis pressed against the cage, preventing Pettis from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Emerson throws an elbow that misses.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Emerson just misses with a elbow thrown towards Pettis's brow. Emerson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pettis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Pettis jumps into guard, dragging Emerson to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettis isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Emerson stacks Pettis on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Emerson! Emerson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Pettis can't do much from the bottom here. Emerson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pettis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Emerson's guard! Nice work there by Pettis! Pettis trying to control the position from guard on top but Emerson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pettis stands up out of the half guard. Emerson avoids a kick to the body.
Pettis throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Pettis throws a left and a right that both miss
and Emerson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emerson tries to land knees in the clinch but Pettis avoids the damage to the body. Emerson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pettis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emerson did well to prevent Pettis getting side control. Pettis takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Pettis is working for a kimura but Emerson is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Emerson is controlling Pettis's trapped leg to prevent Pettis from advancing to side control. Pettis is keen to just control but Emerson is a slippery customer.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Stanley Emerson just wasn't active enough. Pettis throws a lazy head kick and Emerson counters by moving into the clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Knees in the clinch landing for Emerson.
Emerson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pettis avoids it. Emerson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pettis is defending well for now.
