Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Aaro Pajari! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Ruslan Aslamanov! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pajari will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pajari shoots in for a double leg but Aslamanov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Aslamanov stuffs the takedown attempt from Pajari. Pajari gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaro Pajari. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pajari shoots in but no luck this time. The fight moves into the clinch position. Pajari manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Aslamanov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pajari is proving hard to escape from. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pajari controls Aslamanov momentarily but Aslamanov frees himself. Aslamanov wanted to stand there but Pajari had control of the position. Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back. Pajari is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Aslamanov is aware though and is defending well. Aslamanov has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pajari is proving hard to escape from. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aslamanov postures up.
Pajari is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pajari has a closed guard, preventing Aslamanov from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aslamanov is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Aslamanov stands up from Pajari's guard - Aslamanov perhaps looking for a knockout. Pajari changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aslamanov tries to avoid it but Pajari manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aslamanov to the ground. Aslamanov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Aslamanov wants to slow Pajari down by chopping away at his legs. Aslamanov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pajari shoots in for a double leg but Aslamanov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Aslamanov tries to sprawl but Pajari drives through with a takedown into half guard. Pajari working over Aslamanov with some ground and pound. Aslamanov looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Pajari is trying to control the action in half guard but Aslamanov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Aslamanov is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aslamanov manages to escape and get back to his feet! Aslamanov gets a clinch. Pajari pulls guard. Aslamanov is sitting in close to Pajari's body. Pajari has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Aslamanov is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Aslamanov is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Pajari.
