Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richards comes into the arena with Kevin Rudolf - In the City blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Reggie Coleman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richards shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Coleman pinned against the cage. Coleman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Richards slips a jab and a cross from Coleman.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Richards sprawls well. Richards wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Coleman gets slowly back to his feet.
Richards looks to land a combination but Coleman avoids it well.

Richards gets a clinch.
Richards is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Coleman gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Richards gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Coleman regains guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Richards stands up and waves to Coleman to follow him.
Richards misses with a kick to the body.
Reggie Coleman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Richards avoids a punch combination nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Richards is defended easily by Coleman.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Richards. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coleman shoots for a double leg takedown but Richards sprawls well. He's pushed Coleman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Horrible takedown by Richards or perhaps it was just good defense by Coleman which made him look bad.
Coleman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Richards is fending him off so far but Coleman persists. Nope, Richards circles away and we're back to standing.

Richards content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Richards throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Coleman is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Richards has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Coleman is not content to let Richards control the position.

Richards stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Richards shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Coleman defends it nicely.

Richards decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Richards stops Coleman from getting back to his feet.
Coleman is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Coleman tries to kick Richards off but Richards keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ben Richards just wasn't active enough.

Richards rushes Coleman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Richards jumps guard and drags Coleman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coleman wants to control from the top but Richards keeps moving.
Richards wants to stand and escape but Coleman is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coleman wants to stand but Richards is controlling the position.

Richards dives in for a single leg takedown but Coleman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Coleman drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Richards dives on top into guard.

Coleman wants to stand and escape but Richards is having none of it.
Our spies down at at Pacific MMA inform us that Coleman has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Ben Richards has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Richards drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Richards creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Coleman sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Richards thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Coleman wants to get back to his feet but Richards is dominant here and he's now got Coleman's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ben Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reggie Coleman.

Richards shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Richards was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Richards has an Americana. Coleman didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Richards is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Richards hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
