The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Hugh Johnson and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Pierre tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gaffney swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gaffney looks to land a combination but St Pierre avoids it well.
Gaffney takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
St Pierre is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gaffney has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gaffney there as he acknowledges the shot.
Gaffney lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hamish Gaffney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gaffney looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gaffney seems to be working for a kimura but St Pierre defends the submission attempt.
Gaffney wants to work for an arm triangle but St Pierre is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Gaffney is trying to control. St Pierre wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
St Pierre is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
St Pierre on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if St Pierre tries to get out of the position.

Gaffney is looking for a kimura but St Pierre is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gaffney to get the leverage.
St Pierre preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Gaffney is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Gaffney is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
St Pierre is controlling Gaffney's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Gaffney throws a lazy head kick
and St Pierre counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gaffney. St Pierre does a little dance to reset his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gaffney.
St Pierre cracks Gaffney with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Gaffney is rocked!
It looks like Hamish Gaffney has been cut.
St Pierre walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Gaffney drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! St Pierre swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Gaffney's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Georges St Pierre!
A relieved looking Georges St Pierre thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
