Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Russell Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ton Rolder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Russell Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ton Rolder!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rolder scores with a punch to the head.

Rolder moves into the clinch successfully.

Rolder wants the takedown. Armstrong is fighting it off but Rolder persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Armstrong's guard against the cage.
Armstrong is trying to keep Rolder in close.
Armstrong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rolder is looking to work some ground and pound but Armstrong has wrist control.
Rolder has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Armstrong is trying to control the position but Rolder postures up.
Rolder stays in close to Armstrong's body and controls the position.
Armstrong is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Russell Armstrong wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Armstrong is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rolder is looking to improve his position.

Armstrong is thwarting Rolder's attempts to control the position.
Armstrong wants to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rolder manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Armstrong keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Armstrong goes for a takedown attempt but Rolder pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Rolder gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Armstrong wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Rolder has picked Armstrong up - he's going for a ride! Rolder dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Rolder slows the pace down in half guard.
Rolder lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Rolder seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Rolder is thwarting Armstrong's attempts to control the position.

Rolder not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Rolder is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Armstrong is staying active underneath Rolder, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Armstrong has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rolder is working away from the top position though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rolder is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Armstrong has managed to free his arm - good work.
Armstrong trying to hold on to Rolder's head to control him but Rolder postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ton Rolder dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Armstrong looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Armstrong goes for a double leg but Rolder avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rolder continues to drive forward.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Armstrong has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rolder pushes Armstrong back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Russell Armstrong has been cut.
A right hook to the body lands for Rolder.

Rolder gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Rolder slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Rolder pushing down on Armstrong's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Rolder throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rolder thows a huge punch but Armstrong dodges it nicely.
Rolder perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Armstrong blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rolder.
Armstrong wants to get back to his feet.
Armstrong keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rolder takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Armstrong avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rolder.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Armstrong trying to hold on to Rolder's head to control him but Rolder postures up.
Armstrong is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rolder thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Armstrong is trying to maintain the position but Rolder is very close to passing his half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rolder winds up and cracks Armstrong with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Armstrong misses with a takedown attempt - Rolder sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rolder forces Armstrong back against the cage and clinches.
Armstrong is trying to push Rolder away but Rolder has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Rolder lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Rolder scores with a nice hook to the head.
Oh Armstrong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rolder misses with the head strike.
Rolder misses with a punch on the inside.
Armstrong misses with a body punch.
Rolder creates some distance and fires off a vicious elbow that drops Armstrong! He pounces and finishes the fight with more strikes! Nice KO for Rolder.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ton Rolder!
