Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roger Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Hoppa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roger Gomez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, BJ Hoppa!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hoppa swivels and escapes.
Hoppa with a poor takedown
and Gomez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hoppa's guard now.
Hoppa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Hoppa has eaten all the pies!
Hoppa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gomez stands up and waves to Hoppa to follow him.
Hoppa shoots in and bounces Gomez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gomez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoppa wants to control from the top but Gomez keeps moving.
Hoppa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hoppa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gomez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hoppa manages to get himself to full guard.
Gomez wants to pass the guard but Hoppa is keeping the position.
Hoppa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hoppa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gomez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hoppa looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoppa, not yet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hoppa throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Gomez stays in close to Hoppa's body and controls the position.
Hoppa looks gassed!
Hoppa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gomez passes Hoppa's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Gomez is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gomez tries to pass to full mount but Hoppa defends it.
Gomez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hoppa tries to roll over but Gomez keeps him under control.
Gomez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hoppa is just riding it out for now. Gomez eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomez is trying to control the action in half guard but Hoppa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.

Gomez escapes and gets back to his feet.
Hoppa fails with the takedown
and Gomez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hoppa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gomez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gomez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Gomez dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Gomez gets a clinch.
Gomez manages to pull guard.
Hoppa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hoppa has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gomez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hoppa is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gomez pulls down on the head and he's put Hoppa to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Roger Gomez!
