Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Light (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bradley Nowell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Light comes to the cage accompanied by Ride for This-Fabolous. Nowell has chosen Doin Time as his entrance music. Bobby Light had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Light!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bradley Nowell!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Light pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Light misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nowell lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Light throws a sloppy head kick
and Nowell counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Light connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Nowell to the floor! Light dives in looking for the finish!


It looks like Bradley Nowell has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Light is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Light is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nowell defends it well.
Light is just content to waste time from the top position. Nowell takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nowell seems keen to control Light's posture.
Nowell keeping full guard, as Light tries to pass.

Light missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Nowell wants to stand and escape but Light is having none of it.
Light working some strikes from top position.
Light throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nowell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Light trying to control but Nowell is working from the bottom.
Nowell striking off his back but it's not causing Light any problems.
Light throws a big right hand that misses.
Nowell wants to stand and escape but Light is having none of it.
Light missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Light in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Light postures up in Nowell's guard and throws a big left but Nowell blocks it.
Light stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nowell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Light missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Light is looking to pass into half guard but Nowell pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Nowell is in guard.

Light looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Nowell passes into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Light tries to roll over but Nowell keeps him under control.
Light blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nowell.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Light trying to control from the bottom.
Light is trying is best to control the position here.
Light moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Light is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Nowell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Light has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nowell has managed to get both his arms back between Light's legs - danger averted.

Light looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Nowell has picked Light up and slammed him! Light can't keep hold of the triangle and Nowell manages to pass to side control!
You can see the frustration on Light's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Nowell moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Light wants to get back to his feet but Nowell is dominant here and he's now got Light's back!

Light tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Nowell trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Light really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Light is working hard here to advance position.
Nowell wants to control the pace but Light is squirming around nicely.
Light sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nowell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Light does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Light regains full guard. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Light misses with the body kick
and Nowell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Light tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've been told by Light's head coaches at Irish Collar-and-Elbow Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Nowell chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Light can pounce on him.
Light has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Nowell finds it's way round the side to connect with Light's head.
Light plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Light closes the distance and clinches.
Nowell tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Light is working for takedown but Nowell is calmly controlling the position for now.
Nowell is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Light goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Nowell tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Nowell tries to land knees in the clinch but Light avoids the damage to the body.
Nowell pressing his opponent against the cage.

Nowell manages to break the clinch.
Nowell avoids the head kick by Light.

A head kick by Light misses
and Nowell counters with a nice low kick that buckles Light's knee momentarily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Light breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Light swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bobby Light is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nowell lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Light swings widly with a right hand
and Light takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Light throws a left and a right that both miss
and Light takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bobby Light seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Light drives through and clinches with Nowell against the cage.
Light jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nowell walks away with a smile on his face. Light gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Light. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Nowell counters by clinching up.

Nowell lands a big knee to the head and Light goes down! Nowell is looking to finish!


It looks like Bobby Light has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nowell takes a little break here. Light wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nowell advances nicely into full mount.
Nowell trying to control but Light is having none of it.
Light is trying to escape the mount.
Nowell thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Nowell avoids the attempt from Light to control.
Nowell looking to control but Light is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Nowell unloads with some shots from mount but Light bucks and avoids them well.
Light blocking the ground and pound.
Nowell thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Nowell tries to control but Light wriggling away.
Light is bucking up trying to escape but Nowell cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Light tries to hold on but Nowell pushes him away.
Light taking shots to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Light is trying desperately to improve position.

Nowell tries to control but Light wriggling away.
Light is desperately trying to improve his position but Nowell has a good base and remains in mount.
Light is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Nowell throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Nowell avoids the attempt from Light to control.
Light is looking to improve his position but Nowell isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bradley Nowell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Light's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Nowell moves out of range as Light throws a body kick.
Nowell throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Light.
Light stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nowell takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Light throws a head kick that misses.
Light throws a head kick but Nowell moves out of range.
Light takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Light throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Nowell counters with a nice uppercut.
Light is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nowell has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Light on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Light tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Light tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Nowell connects with a nasty looking knee right to Light's face.
Nowell is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Light is defending well for now.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Light manages to break the clinch.
Nowell connects with a right hand. Light shakes it off.
Nowell lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Light throws the kick towards the body but Nowell avoids it.

Nowell lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Nowell works Light's body with a nice hook.
Nowell blocks a head kick by Light.
A good leg kick by Nowell.
Nowell goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Nowell scoring well with a low kick there.
Light tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Light throws a lazy head kick
and Nowell counters with a stiff right hand.
Light tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Nowell lands with a cross.
A decent looking cross lands there for Nowell.
Light sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Nowell clinches with his opponent.

Nowell lands a big knee to the head and Light goes down! Nowell is looking to finish!


Light is rocked!
Nowell in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Light looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Nowell turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bradley Nowell!
Bradley Nowell bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
