Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stacy Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brock Shields!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Diaz tries to clinch but Shields is having none of it.
Shields moves in looking to clinch but Diaz pushes him off.
The fight stays on the outside here - Diaz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Diaz is looking to clinch.

Shields scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Diaz struggling a bit here.
Diaz isn't going anywhere.

Diaz seems a little lost for a moment, as Shields dominates the positioning.

The ground and pound from Shields seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Diaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Shields tries to advance to mount but can't.
Diaz isn't going anywhere.

Diaz manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shields wants to take a breather but Diaz is having none of it.

Brock Shields seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shields tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shields paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Shields is trying to control the position but Diaz postures up.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Diaz postures up in Shields's guard and throws a big left but Shields blocks it.
Diaz distracts Shields with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Shields pulls Diaz in close to his closed guard and prevents Diaz from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Diaz lands a couple of decent looking shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Shields dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Stacy Diaz's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Shields has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.
Shields throws a head punch that misses.

Diaz manages to break the clinch.

Shields shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Shields lands strikes from half guard.
Diaz is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Diaz tries to roll over but Shields keeps him under control.

Diaz is staying active underneath Shields, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Shields prevents Diaz from improving his position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brock Shields hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Diaz takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Diaz takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Diaz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shields pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now.

Shields trying to control the position from guard on top but Diaz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Diaz is working an open guard so Shields takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Shields seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Diaz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brock Shields wasn't active enough on the ground.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Shields tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shields has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shields is trying to get an arm triangle but Diaz is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Shields showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Shields gets a double leg takedown into Diaz's guard.
Diaz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Diaz is working hard here to advance position.
Shields wants to pass the guard but Diaz is keeping the position.
Shields won't allow Diaz to sweep him here.
Shields postures up.
Shields would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Shields clinches.

Shields breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Diaz rushes Shields and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Shields throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Diaz was covering up waiting for the punch and Shields finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Shields stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Shields takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Shields tries a head kick but it misses.

Shields drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Diaz lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shields!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shields is trying desperately to improve position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz looking to finish Shields with some ground and pound. This is bad for Shields!
Diaz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shields is looking to escape.
Shields wants to hold on but Diaz pushes him away.
Shields is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Diaz is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Diaz landing punches.
Diaz lands a heavy elbow.

Diaz jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Shields is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Shields and Diaz has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Shields avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Diaz.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Brock Shields.
Well Shields has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
