Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
27 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Sakuraba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cub Galloway! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Galloway fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Galloway connects with a good right hand that stumbles Sakuraba. Sakuraba circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Sakuraba avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sakuraba blocks a head kick by Galloway.
Horrible takedown by Sakuraba or perhaps it was just good defense by Galloway which made him look bad. Galloway fails to land with a series of punches.
Sakuraba swats away the attempt to clinch by Galloway. Sakuraba keeps the fight on the outside. Galloway pushes Sakuraba up against the cage in a clinch. Sakuraba tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Galloway bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Sakuraba keeps the fight on the outside. Galloway gets a clinch. Galloway prevents the takedown attempt.
Sakuraba tries to score a body lock takedown but Galloway shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Sakuraba is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Galloway gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Sakuraba looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Galloway gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sakuraba.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A nice glancing elbow lands by Galloway. Sakuraba tries for a takedown but Galloway manages to get underhooks.

Galloway goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Cub Galloway is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Galloway tries to close the distance and clinch but Sakuraba swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Galloway throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Galloway looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Cub Galloway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Galloway misses with a kick to the body.
Galloway wants to clinch. Galloway tries to clinch up but Sakuraba circles away and keeps his distance. Galloway wants to clinch. Sakuraba darts in looking for a takedown but Galloway gets double underhooks and turns Sakuraba into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Galloway lands an elbow just above Sakuraba 's eye. Galloway lands an elbow that stopped Sakuraba in his tracks for a moment. Sakuraba letting Galloway take a breather here. Galloway landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Galloway lands a nice elbow from the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sakuraba is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Galloway is defending well. Galloway tries to land knees in the clinch but Sakuraba avoids the damage to the body. The referee is keeping an eye on Galloway - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sakuraba successfully pulls guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cub Galloway dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sakuraba gets a double leg takedown into Galloway's guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sakuraba accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Galloway wants to stand and escape but Sakuraba is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sakuraba passes easily into side control. Nice work. Sakuraba tries for a kimura but Galloway is defending well. Sakuraba thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Sakuraba throws a strike aimed at the side of Galloway's head but Galloway avoids it well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sakuraba advances to mount. Sakuraba is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Galloway can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Galloway is squirming around, avoiding Sakuraba's attempts to control the action. Sakuraba thowing shots but they're missing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Galloway can do anything to dispel that myth.

Sakuraba throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Sakuraba looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Sakuraba misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Sakuraba throws a wild left hand from mount and Galloway manages to wriggle his way back to half guard. Galloway really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sakuraba. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sakuraba is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba landing punches. Sakuraba looking to finish Galloway with some ground and pound. This is bad for Galloway! Sakuraba goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Galloway turns into him and now he's in Sakuraba's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sakuraba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Galloway can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sakuraba is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Galloway frees his head nicely. Oh but Sakuraba has switched to an armbar! Galloway is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
