PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Otis Gein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I'll be Back kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Peter Kent acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Otis Gein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Peter Kent!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gein tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kent paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Gein has a takedown stuffed.
A left and a right from Gein both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Peter Kent has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kent. Gein does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kent jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kent fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gein manages to avoid it.
Kent misses with a wild combination.
Kent throws a body punch but Gein moves out of range.
Gein tries to clinch up.
Kent misses with a series of wild punches.
Gein doesn't manage to clinch there - Kent circles away.

Kent throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gein is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kent tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gein was well out of range. Poor timing from Kent.

Kent's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Oooh a lovely combination from Kent sends Gein down but not out. Kent dives into side control looking to finish.


It looks like Otis Gein has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gein wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Gein is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kent connects with a decent elbow.
Gein is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kent off and has taken his back!

That has opened up Peter Kent's cut even more.
Gein doesn't have the hooks in and Kent manages to turn into his guard.
Kent would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Gein is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Kent presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Gein shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kent is trying to defend but Gein finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gein has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kent controlling the position well.
Kent has hold of Gein's hands but Gein slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kent has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gein is working away from the top position though.
Gein not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kent gets back to full guard.
Kent is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gein is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Gein throws a big elbow that misses.

Kent utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kent wants to sweep here but Gein controlling him for the moment.
Gein is standing up over Kent. Kent looks to escape but Gein dives into side control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gein tries for a kimura but Kent is defending well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gein landing a few strikes.
Kent wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Otis Gein will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Kent has managed to clinch.

Kent pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gein lands with a nice combination. Kent backs away looking to recover.
Kent scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Gein fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kent throws an off balance right hand
and Gein cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


The cut above Peter Kent's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gein will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kent throws a big shot that misses.
Gein fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kent takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Gein shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kent is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gein is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Gein seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kent does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gein wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kent keeps working.

Gein thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kent's head.
Otis Gein overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kent flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Gein thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gein wants to advance to full mount but Kent doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Our spies down at at TOUGH DOJO-Family Dojo for best result inform us that Kent has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kent doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Gein with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.


Peter Kent's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Peter Kent's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Otis Gein!
