The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab by Clippin. Nice sprawl there from Clippin as Matusow shoots in. Clippin throws out a loose jab but Matusow uses good head movement to avoid it. Matusow looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Matusow is controlling the pace.
Matusow is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Clippin defends it well. Matusow is trying to control the action in half guard but Clippin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Matusow tries to pass to full mount but Clippin defends it. Matusow sitting and controlling from the half guard. Matusow wants to lay and pray for a moment but Clippin keeps working.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Mike Matusow just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Clippin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

and Clippin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Matusow shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Clippin with a body punch. A glancing blow. Clippin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Matusow backs up against the cage.

and Matusow counters with a takedown into side control. Clippin looks gassed! Matusow is looking to take a break and control but Clippin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Matusow is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Clippin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Matusow is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Clippin has escaped the position, nice work there. Matusow thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Matusow tries for a kimura but Clippin is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matusow is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Clippin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Clippin is looking to regain half guard here but Matusow keeps moving and retains side control. Matusow is working Clippin over with some ground and pound from side control. Clippin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Matusow's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Clippin is defending against the submission attempts here by Matusow.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Matusow wants to work for an arm triangle but Clippin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Matusow is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Clippin is desperately trying to improve his position but Matusow has a good base and remains in mount. Matusow looking to control and managing it successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice defenses there by Clippin. Clippin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Clippin keeping moving, preventing Matusow from controlling successfully. Matusow pushes down on Clippin's leg and manages to get into half guard. Matusow is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Clippin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Matusow. Matusow moves into full mount! Clippin won't be happy about that! Clippin is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matusow dominating with strikes here. Matusow is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Clippin is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Clippin flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Matusow anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Clippin and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Matusow slips an arm under Clippin chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Matusow has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Matusow is squeezing on Clippin like an anaconda would it's prey. Clippin fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
