Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leland Kirby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Hayabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryu Hayabusa has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Leland Kirby's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Leland Kirby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Hayabusa!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kirby gets tackled into the cage by Hayabusa. Hayabusa maintains the clinch.
Kirby tries to break free but Hayabusa pushes him back against the cage.
Hayabusa wants to break free but Kirby has control.

Hayabusa pulls guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hayabusa is pulling down on Kirby's head to control his posture.
Hayabusa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kirby wants to stand but Hayabusa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kirby has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Hayabusa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kirby defends well.
Hayabusa wants to get back to his feet but Kirby is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Kirby would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Some wild striking there from Hayabusa.

Hayabusa keeps the fight on the outside.

Hayabusa pushes Kirby up against the cage in a clinch.
Kirby wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hayabusa has him pressed against the cage.

Kirby pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ryu Hayabusa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hayabusa has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kirby is pressed up against the cage. Hayabusa has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kirby down to the mat. Kirby avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kirby tries to clinch but Hayabusa moves away
letting Hayabusa counter with a right hand.
Hayabusa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hayabusa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kirby defends it nicely.
Hayabusa throws a combination that misses

and Kirby counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hayabusa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kirby defends it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kirby would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kirby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hayabusa on the ground.
Hayabusa is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Hayabusa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Hayabusa had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kirby defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hayabusa is adopting a defensive guard.
Kirby wants to stand but Hayabusa is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryu Hayabusa dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hayabusa shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kirby defends it nicely.
Hayabusa fails with a takedown attempt.
Hayabusa shoots in for a takedown but Kirby shows good takedown defense.
Leland Kirby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryu Hayabusa.

Hayabusa forces Kirby back against the cage and clinches.
Hayabusa tries to pull guard but Kirby holds him up against the cage and eventually Hayabusa drops back down to his feet.
Hayabusa is working for takedown but Kirby is calmly controlling the position for now.
With the fighters up against the cage, Hayabusa throws an elbow but misses.
Hayabusa drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hayabusa trying to control the position but instead, Kirby has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hayabusa into the cage.
Hayabusa tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kirby just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hayabusa jumps guard.
Hayabusa wants to sweep here but Kirby controlling him for the moment.
Hayabusa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kirby distracts Hayabusa with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kirby wants to stand but Hayabusa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hayabusa wants to sweep but no luck.
Kirby will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kirby wanted to stand there but Hayabusa had control of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hayabusa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hayabusa is working for a guillotine from mount but Kirby frees his head quite easily.

Hayabusa is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Kirby is forced to tap! Great finish!
