Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Lurch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocky Joaquin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lurch comes into the arena with Won't back down - Tom Petty blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Lurch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rocky Joaquin! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lurch pushes Joaquin up against the cage in a clinch. Lurch stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Lurch has Joaquin pressed against the cage, preventing Joaquin from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Lurch pulls guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Joaquin is fighting to break Lurch's control of his arms but Lurch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Joaquin's corner is telling him to maintain position. Lurch managing to control the position. Joaquin won't allow Lurch to sweep him here. We've been hearing good reports from Lurch's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Lurch is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lurch is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lurch is just content to waste time from the top position. Joaquin takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Joaquin has momentary wrist control but Lurch slips an elbow through the middle. Joaquin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lurch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lurch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Joaquin is looking to stand up but Lurch isn't so interested in that idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lurch passes Joaquin's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lurch not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lurch in particular looking to stall. Lurch is keen to just control but Joaquin is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lurch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Lurch wants to take a breather but Joaquin is having none of it. Joaquin is trying to control but can't.
Lurch is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Joaquin defends it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lurch lands a nice short elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lurch perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Lurch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Lurch tries to stand but can't do so whilst Joaquin controls his leg. Lurch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Lurch throws a strike but Joaquin avoids it easily and moves to full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lurch postures up in Joaquin's guard and throws a big left but Joaquin blocks it. Lurch trying to control the position from guard on top but Joaquin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joaquin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lurch. Ethan Lurch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lurch gets a double leg takedown into Joaquin's guard. Lurch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Joaquin, up you get! Lurch shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lurch was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lurch works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Ethan Lurch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Joaquin on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Lurch throws a strike aimed at the side of Joaquin's head but Joaquin avoids it well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lurch taking a break here but Joaquin is having none of it and regains half guard. Lurch lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lurch is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Joaquin sees it coming and defends easily. Lurch tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Lurch is looking for a kimura but Joaquin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lurch to get the leverage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Joaquin is looking to escape. Lurch wants to take a breather but Joaquin is having none of it. Lurch controlling the action here. Lurch looks to land a strike but Joaquin avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Lurch passes Joaquin's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lurch is looking to take a break and control but Joaquin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lurch is thwarting Joaquin's attempts to control the position. Lurch is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lurch is working for a kimura but Joaquin is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lurch seems to be working for a kimura but Joaquin defends the submission attempt. Joaquin looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Joaquin wants to control but Lurch is keeping busy and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lurch gets a takedown into half guard. Lurch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Joaquin keeps working. Joaquin manages to escape and get back to his feet! Lurch moves into the clinch. Lurch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Joaquin leaves Lurch with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Lurch digs a good hook to Joaquin's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joaquin throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Joaquin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lurch, pushing him back against the cage. Lurch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Joaquin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lurch. Lurch closes the distance and lands a one-two. Lurch closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Joaquin's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lurch trying to control but Joaquin is working from the bottom. Joaquin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lurch defends well. Lurch stands up and waves to Joaquin to follow him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Joaquin. No joy for Lurch on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethan Lurch. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nice sprawl there from Lurch as Joaquin shoots in. Lurch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lurch prevents Joaquin from improving his position. Lurch looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

And that's the end of the fight! Ethan Lurch showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lurch has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
