PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sun Wukong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wukong's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, I stand alone - Godsmack. Cox has chosen Seventeen - Sex Pistols as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sun Wukong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Cox!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cox looks to score with a jab to the body but Wukong is just out of range.
Wukong has his takedown stuffed

and Cox counters with a single leg into guard. Wukong didn't expect that.

Wukong is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cox wants to control from the top but Wukong keeps moving.
Cox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wukong swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Wukong's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Cox has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at LOD: GRITTY'S ELITE KILLAS . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cox remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Steve Cox showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Cox must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Steve Cox is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Steve Cox hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Steve Cox comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Cox has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
