PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Greg Rayvenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duke Asassin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Rayvenn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Rayvenn moves into range and clinches up with Asassin.
Rayvenn is trying to break free.
Rayvenn looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Rayvenn gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Asassin.

Rayvenn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Asassin avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Asassin misses with a jab, cross combination.
Asassin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rayvenn's waist but Rayvenn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Asassin off to one side.

and Asassin counters with a single leg into guard. Rayvenn didn't expect that.

Asassin gets the takedown into side control.
Asassin scores with punches from side control.
Asassin throwing strikes but Rayvenn manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Rayvenn stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Duke Asassin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

so Rayvenn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Asassin is looking to stand up but Rayvenn isn't so interested in that idea.

Rayvenn gets to his feet. Asassin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Rayvenn misses with a wild combination.
Rayvenn has his takedown stuffed
and Asassin counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rayvenn is looking to score with low kicks.

and Asassin counters with a stiff right hand.
Rayvenn stuffs the takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

so Asassin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Asassin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duke Asassin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Asassin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rayvenn throws a sloppy head kick and Asassin moves out of range easily.
Asassin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Asassin blocks a head kick by Rayvenn.
Rayvenn misses with a body shot.
A right-left combo lands from Rayvenn.

Asassin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Asassin decides to stand back up.
Rayvenn falls off balance throwing a combination

and Asassin counters with a single leg into guard. Rayvenn didn't expect that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Asassin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Asassin is standing up over Rayvenn. Rayvenn looks to escape but Asassin dives into side control.

Asassin has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Asassin rushes Rayvenn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Asassin pulls guard successfully.
Asassin wants to stand and escape but Rayvenn is having none of it.
Rayvenn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Asassin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Asassin wants to sweep but no luck.
Asassin has control of Rayvenn's left arm, preventing Rayvenn from doing any damage.

Asassin wriggles free and stands up.
Asassin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rayvenn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Asassin.
Rayvenn circles away from the clinch attempt
and Rayvenn counters with a head kick. That will keep Asassin thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Asassin wants to clinch
and Rayvenn counters with a three punch combo that has Asassin backing up. Asassin nods at Rayvenn to acknowledge the strikes.

Asassin clinches up with Rayvenn and pushes him back against the cage.

Asassin jumps into guard, dragging Rayvenn to the mat.
Rayvenn won't allow Asassin to sweep him here.

Asassin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Duke Asassin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Asassin wants to stand but Rayvenn is controlling the position.
Asassin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Asassin wants to hit a switch here but Rayvenn passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Asassin there!

Asassin wants to hold on but Rayvenn pushes him away.
Rayvenn looking to ground and pound but Asassin is blocking nicely.
Asassin tries to buck Rayvenn off but he can't manage it.
Asassin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Asassin regains half guard.
Rayvenn prevents Asassin from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Duke Asassin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Nice takedown defense from Rayvenn. No joy for Asassin on that attempt.

Greg Rayvenn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Rayvenn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Asassin won't be happy with that.
Greg Rayvenn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Duke Asassin.

Rayvenn decides to stand back up. Rayvenn steps back and let's Asassin get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rayvenn tries a head kick but it misses.
Asassin closes the distance looking to clinch
and Rayvenn counters with a low kick, right behind Asassin 's knee.

Asassin shoots in and drives through. Rayvenn sprawls well.

Asassin shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Asassin is taking a breather. Rayvenn says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Asassin slips a nice elbow through Rayvenn's hands, connecting with Rayvenn's forehead.
Asassin is trying to control the action in half guard but Rayvenn is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Asassin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Asassin stops Rayvenn from getting back to his feet.
Asassin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rayvenn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Asassin closes the distance and clinches up with Rayvenn, looking for a takedown. Asassin pushes Rayvenn against the cage but Rayvenn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rayvenn throws a nice looking combination but Asassin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rayvenn swats away the attempt to clinch by Asassin.
Asassin blocks a head kick by Rayvenn.
Rayvenn walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Asassin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rayvenn tries to bum rush Asassin with a series of wild strikes but Asassin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Asassin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Asassin.

Asassin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rayvenn is not content to let Asassin control the position.

Asassin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rayvenn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Asassin landing strikes.
Asassin takes a little break here. Rayvenn wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Asassin decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Asassin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Duke Asassin.
I've got Asassin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
