The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roads has closed the distance and engaged Gibson in a clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Roads.
Roads tries to stall but Gibson uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Still in the clinch, Roads scores with a nice short uppercut.
Gibson throws a punch but it's blocked by Roads.
Roads is trying to stall.

Roads breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Gibson moves into range and clinches up with Roads.
Roads misses with a short punch on the inside.
Roads fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Gibson avoiding damage as Roads throws knees to the body.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gibson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Roads tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Roads can't find room to land a body shot as Gibson controls the action.

Roads tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Gibson smiles and moves away.
Roads tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Gibson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Roads is trying to defend but Gibson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gibson passes to side control.

Gibson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Roads looks calm but he's in trouble here. Gibson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Roads is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Gibson lets go of the hold and Roads can pop his arm back in it's socket.
