Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Trig!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colton Smith!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trig looks to land a combination but Smith avoids it well.
Trig swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith.
Smith misses with a series of wild punches.
Trig digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs.

Trig forces Smith back against the cage and clinches.
Trig wants to get back to striking at distance but Smith won't allow it.
Smith changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Trig fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Trig throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.
Danga de danga de dang - Trig scores with a four punch combination!

Smith shoots in and bounces Trig off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Trig is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Trig is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

Smith wants to control from the top but Trig keeps moving.
Trig is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trig. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Trig keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Trig trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.
Trig looking for a sweep. Not yet Trig, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Trig manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Trig pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Trig avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Trig is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Trig lands a jab-cross combination.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Trig circles away from the clinch attempt.
Frank Trig is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith fails with the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith is looking to clinch.

Trig closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Trig breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Trig tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Trig throws a combination that misses
and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Trig rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Smith keeps control of Trig as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith is trying to push Trig away but Trig has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Trig breaks from the clinch.

Trig closes the distance and clinches.

Trig's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Trig tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trig displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.
Frank Trig has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Colton Smith.

Trig clinches with his opponent.

Trig escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trig tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.

Trig rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Trig is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Trig manages to break the clinch.
Smith moves forwards but Trig connects with a nice, crisp jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Trig, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Trig against the cage but Trig circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith is looking to clinch but Trig is avoiding it.

Trig drops Smith with a beautiful combination! Smith stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Trig is looking for the KO!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Trig dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Trig Throws a clean left jab. Trig Twirls his body and connects with a Spinning Back Fist that connects flush with Smith's chin! Smith crumbles to the ground and Trig follows up with some unanswered strikes. It's all over!! Nice standup skills displayed by Trig!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Frank Trig!
