PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean McNamara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DAVID TORRES (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McNamara might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Young Americans. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean McNamara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, DAVID TORRES!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
TORRES fails with a takedown attempt.
TORRES takes a shot right to the bread basket.
McNamara pulls out of a head kick attempt.
TORRES tries to close the distance and clinch up but McNamara swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McNamara doesn't succeed with the takedown

and TORRES holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

TORRES pulls guard.
TORRES throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
TORRES preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
McNamara working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
McNamara stopping the sweep attempt from TORRES.

TORRES is working an open guard so McNamara takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

McNamara feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

TORRES is working an open guard so McNamara takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and TORRES counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

McNamara manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. TORRES manages to get himself to full guard.

TORRES is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

McNamara drops back looking for a leg! TORRES is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and TORRES manages to kick McNamara off! McNamara jumps back into TORRES's guard.

McNamara closes the distance looking to clinch

and TORRES counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McNamara's guard now.

McNamara is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
TORRES trying to control but McNamara is working from the bottom.

McNamara looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! TORRES has picked McNamara up and slammed him! McNamara can't keep hold of the triangle and TORRES manages to pass to side control!
TORRES wants to control but McNamara is keeping him busy.
TORRES in side control, throwing shots but McNamara defends.

McNamara is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked TORRES off and has taken his back!
TORRES is trapped and McNamara is scoring with shots to the head and body.
TORRES covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

McNamara is hanging on to TORRES's back as he tries to escape.
McNamara has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
TORRES is taking damage to the body and head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
TORRES tries to roll but McNamara sticks to his back.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sean McNamara will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

TORRES avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
McNamara stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. TORRES swivels though and keeps the full guard.

TORRES had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McNamara is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. TORRES Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McNamara's back instead.
I really don't envy McNamara right now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McNamara rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

McNamara looking for a sweep. Not yet McNamara, not yet.
McNamara keeping moving, preventing TORRES from controlling successfully.
TORRES wants to get up but he can't break McNamara's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

McNamara is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

You can see the frustration on TORRES's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

McNamara has his arm under TORRES's chin here. Game over son! McNamara squeezes tightly and TORRES is forced to tap out!
