PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Ridgeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ridgeon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Skulls kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Lewis Ridgeon acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lewis Ridgeon!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King connects with a looping right hand.
King throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
King fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ridgeon dodges the punch combination from King.
Ridgeon gets cracked with a nice right hand there by King.
Ridgeon is trying hard to land a takedown here. King sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ridgeon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
King works Ridgeon's body with a nice hook.

Ridgeon throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. King was covering up waiting for the punch and Ridgeon finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ridgeon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Ridgeon landing with the ground and pound.
Ridgeon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
King can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ridgeon controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King keeping full guard, as Ridgeon tries to pass.
King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ridgeon is one step ahead there.
King wants to stand and escape but Ridgeon is having none of it.
King manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ridgeon wants to control but King is having none of it.

King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ridgeon is looking to escape.
Ridgeon is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ridgeon tries to lock up and control but King gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Ridgeon working to try and regain half guard.
Ridgeon tries to hold on but King pushes him away.
King controlling from mount.
King avoids the attempt from Ridgeon to control.
Ridgeon regains half guard.
King tries to pass to full mount but Ridgeon defends it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King is trying to control. Ridgeon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ridgeon is trying to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ridgeon gets back to full guard.
Ridgeon keeping full guard, as King tries to pass.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lewis Ridgeon will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


King looks to score with a jab to the body but Ridgeon is just out of range.
King lands a jab to the nose.
Ridgeon misses with a looping right.
King tries to bum rush Ridgeon with a series of wild strikes but Ridgeon uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Don King is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ridgeon darts in looking for a takedown but King gets double underhooks and turns Ridgeon into the cage.
King is pressed up against the cage. Ridgeon has hold of a leg and is looking to drag King down to the mat. King avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

King avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
King displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ridgeon.
Don King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lewis Ridgeon.
King throws a nice looking combination but Ridgeon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Don King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
King throws a series of punches but Ridgeon avoids them all with ease.
We've been told by King's head coaches at ELITE GYM 40CAP that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
King will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
King displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ridgeon.
King moves into range and connects with a jab.
Ridgeon misses with an uppercut
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Ridgeon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lewis Ridgeon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ridgeon shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
King thuds his right hand into Ridgeon's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ridgeon shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Ridgeon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Ridgeon avoids a punch combination nicely.
King leaves Ridgeon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ridgeon connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed King momentarily.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting King here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
King throws a series of strikes that have Ridgeon backpedaling.
King throws a hook but Ridgeon blocks it.
No luck for Ridgeon with that takedown attempt.
King scores with a hook to the body. Ridgeon takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Ridgeon at a distance.
Ridgeon is breathing heavily.
King misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ridgeon misses with an uppercut. King saw that one coming.

King lands with a nice body punch.
King misses with a wild combination.
Ridgeon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts King as he jumps to the side.
Ridgeon misses the jab.

Ridgeon looking to score a takedown here. King is defending well but Ridgeon drives through and ends up in King's guard.
King knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ridgeon on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ridgeon is standing up over King. King looks to escape but Ridgeon dives into side control.
Ridgeon cracks King with a big right hand but King just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don King dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


King misses with a straight left.
King takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ridgeon fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
King lands a two punch combo.
King lands a lovely overhand right.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ridgeon shoots in looking for a takedown. King tries to sprawl out of it but Ridgeon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. King manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A nice combination there by King.

King throws a looping overhand right but Ridgeon ducks down to avoid it.
King lands a nice hook to Ridgeon's body. Ridgeon takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
King looks to land a combination but Ridgeon avoids it well.
King lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ridgeon backs up against the cage.
King throws a right and a left that Ridgeon avoids nicely.
King walks into a stiff left hand from Ridgeon.
Ridgeon tries to score a power double leg takedown but King sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ridgeon somewhat.
Don King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lewis Ridgeon.
Ridgeon goes for a double leg but King avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as King continues to drive forward.

King swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A head punch on the inside from King fails to land.
King misses with a punch on the inside.
Still in the clinch, King scores with a nice short uppercut.
Ridgeon prevents King from breaking the clinch.

Ridgeon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
King misses with the combination.
King jabs Ridgeon to the body, keeping him at a distance.
King fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ridgeon sees it coming and avoids it easily.

King keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ridgeon circles away quickly and effectively.
King throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ridgeon misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
King swinging wildly here.
No luck for Ridgeon with that takedown attempt.
Ridgeon throws a sloppy head kick and King moves out of range easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ridgeon shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
King displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Ridgeon shoots in but no luck this time.
Ridgeon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
King scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
This has been an exciting period of action!
King misses with the combination.
Ridgeon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
King wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

And that's the end of the fight!
Don King showed his dominance in that final round.
