Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Alaniz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alaniz's entrance music is Slippin. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charlie Alaniz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Mendes! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendes has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alaniz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Alaniz is looking to clinch but Mendes is avoiding it.
Alaniz on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Mendes forces Alaniz back against the cage and clinches. Mendes is trying to trip Alaniz. He has hold of a leg but Alaniz is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mendes persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Alaniz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mendes is aware though and is defending well. Mendes stands up from guard. Let's bang! Mendes ducks under a wild hook from Alaniz. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alaniz avoids the body shot from Mendes.
Alaniz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mendes manages to avoid it. A big left from Alaniz misses. Alaniz looks to score with a jab to the body but Mendes is just out of range. Alaniz wants to clinch up but Mendes keeps it at a distance. Alaniz has his takedown stuffed and Mendes counters with a lovely shot to the body. Mendes darts in and clinches Alaniz up against the cage. Mendes drags the fight down to the ground.
Alaniz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mendes is keeping the position for now. Alaniz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mendes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alaniz scoring with some ground and pound. Alaniz with a flurry of punches that miss. Alaniz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Alaniz is looking to work some ground and pound but Mendes has wrist control. Alaniz throwing strikes but missing. Alaniz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mendes pulls Alaniz in close to prevent any damage. Alaniz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mendes is keeping the position for now. Mendes looking to control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Mendes has control of Alaniz's left arm, preventing Alaniz from doing any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jake Mendes. Mendes has managed to clinch.
Mendes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mendes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mendes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Alaniz trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alaniz works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mendes makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Mendes clinches with his opponent.

Mendes is defending well against a takedown attempt. Mendes jumps into guard, dragging Alaniz to the mat.
Mendes looking for a sweep. Not yet Mendes, not yet. Alaniz throwing strikes but missing. Mendes controlling Alaniz's posture. Alaniz scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alaniz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Alaniz with a flurry of punches that miss. Alaniz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Alaniz stands up over Mendes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mendes tries to land a sweep but no joy. Alaniz is working Mendes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Mendes trying to control the position.
Alaniz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Alaniz with a flurry of punches that miss. Mendes looking to control.
Mendes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Alaniz throws a big elbow that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jake Mendes wasn't active enough on the ground. Alaniz has managed to clinch.
Alaniz is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mendes gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charlie Alaniz. That's going to take a lot out of him. This has been an exciting period of action! Mendes lands a takedown into guard.
Alaniz is looking for a triangle but Mendes pushes his legs off easily.
Alaniz is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Pahuyuth Muay Thai 12 elite coaches that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Alaniz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mendes defends well. Alaniz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mendes stopping the sweep attempt from Alaniz. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mendes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Alaniz is proving hard to escape from. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jake Mendes will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mendes lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Mendes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mendes closes the distance and clinches. Mendes tightens his grip and picks Alaniz up, before dumping him to the ground. Alaniz manages to land in guard. Mendes controls from within his opponent's guard. Alaniz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Alaniz working for a triangle but Mendes defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Alaniz is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Mendes rolls with it to try and escape but Alaniz cranks on the arm and Mendes is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
